Why I Believe America Should Pass the SAVE America Act I am writing this as an American citizen who thinks a country has to know who its voters are before it can protect anyone's future. I support the SAVE America Act because it is simple. To register for a federal election, prove you are a U.S. citizen. To vote, show a valid photo ID. Take noncitizens off the federal rolls when that is verified. Federal law already says noncitizens may not vote for Congress or the President. A rule without proof is only a wish. The House has passed this bill. The Senate has not. I do not want it sitting unused while another election decides the country's direction. Elections are not a ceremony. They decide borders, schools, crime, taxes, housing, and whether a family can still build a life here. Citizenship is the line between living in America and owning a share of its government. Livelihood is the point. A job, a safe neighborhood, a school that works, a hospital that is not overflowing, a rent people can pay. Who votes helps decide all of that. If people who are not citizens can enter the federal electorate, citizens lose leverage over their own lives. Hey, I show ID to fly, open a bank account, and receive government benefits. Voting should not be the one act that needs no proof. Some say noncitizen voting is rare. Fine. Banks and airports still check. A gate exists to stay a gate. Help real Americans get documents if they need them. Do not erase the citizenship standard. This bill is not a ban on legal immigration or on naturalized citizens voting. It is a national floor, the people choosing Congress and the President should prove they belong to the American political community. Pass it. A free people should not be embarrassed to ask for proof of membership in their own republic.
