There ist still time to sign up for our upcoming online symposium, starting Oct 27, registration is free!
We have great speakers and chairs including @TrumanLab @shouval @lundpa @MedMol @gclab1 John Lis @HawleLab @GestwickiLab @sistonheat and many more: cellstressresponses.org/upco…
4/ Dr. Dalia Barsyte-Lovejoy continues to push the boundaries of chemical biology and proteomics to understand the global role of protein methylation, publishing an excellent review in @NatRevDrugDisc on this topic: nature.com/articles/s41573-0… #methylation #chaperonecode #hsp70
3/ She appeared on our #chaperonecode radar after publishing an outstanding article in @NatureComms on monomethylation of #Hsp70 by PRMT7. Inhibition of Hsp70 methylation via the small molecule SGC3027 leads to a compromised cellular stress response: ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/article…
2/ Dr. Barsyte-Lovejoy is currently an Assistant Professor at @UofT. Her group probes the role of lysine and arginine methylation on a range of important proteins including transcription factors, splicing proteins and histones.
1/ Our PI of the week is Dr. Dalia Barsyte-Lovejoy (@BarsyteDalia). After obtaining a PhD in molecular cell biology and toxicology from the @OfficialUoM, she studied kinase-transcription factor signaling during her postdoctoral training at @OICR_news.
6/ Dr. Mattoo has continued to be one of our favorite chaperone code researchers and her most recent work shows that the HYPE-BiP interaction maintains ER homeostasis. link.springer.com/article/10… We look forward to seeing what will come next for the Mattoo Lab!
5/ Of course, we are especially excited by her studies on PTMs on chaperones! Her 2015 paper in @jbiolchem demonstrated the ability of HYPE, a human Fic protein to localize to the ER and adenylate BiP, the ER-resident Hsp70: sciencedirect.com/science/ar…
4/ Her 2010 study in @NatureSMB beautifully demonstrated the first structural basis of Fic-mediated adenylylation (in this case on Cdc42): nature.com/articles/nsmb.186…
3/ Dr. Mattoo co-discovered the Fic-protein and developed the first co-crystal structure of a Fic protein in complex with its target.
2/ Her group's studies on super cool PTMs such as adenylylation have far reaching implications in diverse biological fields including host-pathogen interactions and cancer.
1/ Our PI of the week is Dr. Seema Mattoo (@MattooLab), Associate Professor at Purdue University in Indiana (@LifeAtPurdue). After obtaining a PhD in Microbiology & Immunology @UCLA, she pursued a post-doctoral fellow @ucsd and went on to work as a research scientist at HHMI.
5/ Dr. Diezmann’s recent excellent studies cement the #chaperoneode as key for candida virulence. Please see: biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/… and ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/article…
4/ Although previous studies have observed connections between #Hsp70 phosphorylation candida pathogenesis (sciencedirect.com/science/ar…), the role of Hsp90 PTMs in candida has remained unclear.
3/ Dr. Diezmann studies the role of the #Hsp90 of the infectivity of the pathogenic yeast candida albicans. Among our favorite of her publications is a key study on the interaction network of Hsp90 in @PLOSGenetics: journals.plos.org/plosgeneti….
2/ This was followed by a postdoc at the @UofT and followed by a move to the @UniofBath for her first academic appointment as a Prize Fellow. After five years at Bath, she relocated to the @BristolUni where she is currently a senior lecturer.
1/ Our PI of the week is Dr. Stephanie Diezmann (@diezmannlab). She has published over 20 high profile papers and her work has been cited nearly 1500 times! Dr. Diezmann obtained a degree in Biology from @HumboldtUni and a PhD from @DukeU.
Our Chaperone Code Club meetings resume with a seminar by Professor Laurence Pearl’s @laurencepearl “Chaperone Targeted Degradation of Hsp90 Client Proteins” on 09/15 at 11am EST. To register please go chaperonecode.com/registrati…. #hsp90 #chaperonecode
6/ Finally to get a real insight into Dr. Mollapour’s thoughts on the Hsp90 chaperone code, please check out this review in @jbiolchem: pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/3252…
