01 · Climb the spider, play with strangers. Frieze London closed Sunday, and with it Theo Triantafyllidis's Feral Metaverse (Spider), the 2026 Frieze London Artist Award commission co-produced with Forma and, for the first time, Google Arts & Culture (@googlearts): a soft, climbable spider in the fair's Focus section that plugged visitors into a shared multiplayer game. Control wasn't given to one player; you had to climb, hold and coordinate with whoever else was on a leg, forming temporary towers, wheels, group hugs and spiders. Next: Funny Weather premieres Nov 11 at Aviva Studios in Manchester.
02 · Pinball that never lets you win. Mitchell F. Chan (@mitchellfchan) opened Workers' Playtime, his first solo show in Asia, at DE SARTHE (@deSarthe) in Hong Kong on Oct 10, through Nov 21: six interactive sculptures built from electromechanical pinball parts, each rigged so play feels like work. In Cliffhangers a tiny gap keeps the ball from its target; Roundtrippin', the finance piece, scores in a closed loop while the player controls nothing. He was the first artist in residence at a new digital art residency by Jeannie Vu (@jeannievu) and Jehan Chu (@collectionist), closing Oct 17 with a talk alongside M+ curator Sunny Cheung.
03 · A singing machine heads to MoMA. After Starmirror closed at K21 in Düsseldorf on Oct 11, Holly Herndon (@hollyherndon) and Mat Dryhurst (@matdryhurst) announced Candlelight, their first solo presentation in New York: a MoMA (@MuseumModernArt) commission in the Kravis Studio from Mar 27 to June 13, 2027, and on the Hyundai Card Digital Wall until Sept 6. Musician-led choral performances open to the audience will train AI models while the work in progress plays on the wall — the first time MoMA has shown across both spaces at once. Before New York, Strange Rules at Palazzo Diedo in Venice stays open through Nov 22.
04 · New on catalogue.gallery: a room full of televisions. In 1971 Steina and Woody Vasulka carried their monitors into a disused hotel kitchen at the Mercer Arts Center in Greenwich Village and opened The Kitchen (@TheKitchen_NYC) — live video in a room wired so images could travel the monitors, chairs stacked by the audience at night, and an idea "not to select or curate, but to mediate and accommodate." The music series opened Oct 4, 1971 with Laurie Spiegel (@LaurieSpiegel) on a Buchla. By the time the Broadway Central Hotel collapsed in August 1973, The Kitchen had already moved to Broome Street in SoHo.
05 · Ahead: Fri–Sat Oct 23–24, House of Ralfus (@HouseOfRalfus) brings all nine series under one roof at Plan ₿ Forum Lugano (@LuganoPlanB) for the first time, debuting The Bitcoin Lexicon. Tomorrow, as flagged yesterday, Sine (@sinusoidalsnail) releases A Number Is a Means of Expressing an Idea in a Definite Way — 64 loops drawn from the visual language of computation.

01 · Memory as something that keeps falling. gozo (@uncertaingaze) opened under the debris at Galerie Met (@GalerieMet) in Berlin on Friday night, on view through Nov 7: 15 digital works and 5 lithographs he spent more than six months developing. He runs early Stable Diffusion models on his own machine, treats their degraded output as a kind of collective memory, then breaks it apart and recomposes what remains into collages that never quite resolve. "To remember is to collapse slowly," the gallery writes. The digital works drop on @verse_works on Wed Oct 21.
02 · Talk to the artist, even when the artist isn't there. NEW MEDIA / NEW TECHNOLOGY / NEW ARTIST opened Saturday at ISLAND in Harajuku, the Tokyo gallery of island JAPAN (@islandjapan), after stops in Fukuoka and Seoul. Kazuki Takakura (@_takakurakazuki), Kenta Cobayashi, Ao Ito, Shunsuke Saiki (@shunsuke_saiki) and Namae Myoji (@myoji_namae_) work across painting, VR, 3DCG, NFTs and game art, and an AI agent called ego Graphica, trained on each artist's ideas and practice, lets visitors explore the work in conversation. Takakura shows a new stage of his game for the first time in Tokyo. Through Nov 1.
03 · Who decides what may be said? Manifestations (@Manifestations_), the free media art expo of Dutch Design Week, opened Saturday at Veem in Eindhoven, through Oct 25. Jip van Leeuwenstein's Surveillance Exclusion Mask is a transparent mask that throws off facial recognition from several angles while keeping your expression readable, while Ilya Fedotov's Trapped By Design puts a giant Labubu on an arcade machine that plays you while you play it.
04 · Last week for the whales. At the Museum of the Moving Image (@MovingImageNYC) in Queens, Terms of Agreement 🐳 by Jonas Lund (@jonas_lund) and Yoshi Sodeoka (@yoshi_sodeoka) runs through Sun Oct 25 on the Schlosser Media Wall, commissioned through the museum's partnership with the Tezos Foundation (@TezosFoundation), curated by Regina Harsanyi (@ReginaHarsanyi). The real-time triptych turns office life into a simulation driven by live wallet activity from a handful of top media art collectors, the art world's "whales," and by sighting data from actual whales, dolphins and orcas at sea.
05 · New on catalogue.gallery: Jakob Kudsk Steensen (@Jakob_steensen) has brought Berl-Berl to MoMA (@MuseumModernArt), a living simulation of the wetlands Berlin was built on, named for the Slavic word for swamp and sung through with the voice of Arca (@arca1000000), on view through Mar 7, 2027. And a history: at Bell Labs, Ken Knowlton and Leon Harmon turned a photograph into a wall of tiny symbols 12 feet wide, and their office prank, Computer Nude, ended up in The New York Times.
06 · Ahead: Today is the last day of Patchlab's Dream Sim festival in Kraków. On Tue Oct 20, Sine (@sinusoidalsnail) releases A Number Is a Means of Expressing an Idea in a Definite Way on @SuperRare, 64 loops drawn from the visual language of computation.

01 · Vera Molnar, and everyone who came after. Degrees of Disruption: Vera Molnar and Generative Art opened Friday at the @V_and_A in London, a free display of more than 50 works through May 30, 2027. Her plotter drawings, from Interruptions (1969) to (Des)Ordres (1974), sit beside eight contemporary generative artists including Casey Reas (@REAS), Licia He (@Licia_He), William Mapan (@williamapan), Zach Lieberman (@zachlieberman) and Matt DesLauriers (@mattdesl), whose Meridian #870 is on the wall. Vetro Editions (@VetroEditions) says two Meridian editions are now in the museum's permanent collection. "Feels very special to have my work exhibited and shown alongside hers," DesLauriers wrote.
02 · A power station full of experiments. Somerset House's (@SomersetHouse) 3 Evenings runs through Sunday at the Wapping Hydraulic Power Station in London, with world premieres of new interactive installations. Ayoung Kim debuts a playable game that expands Delivery Dancer, her series about two delivery drivers run by an AI algorithm called Dancemaster. Xin Liu's (@xin_liu_studio) nom nom grows a world of millions of particles across an LED surface from Neural Cellular Automata, and Keiken's (@_keiken_) Liquid Perception uses light sensors, headphones and haptics for non-verbal communication. Friday's sold-out night added live performances by Gazelle Twin, Lawrence Lek (@Sinofuturism) and Jenkin van Zyl.
03 · A whole website, on Bitcoin. EP (@E_Pieraccini_), the Tuscan artist Elia Pieraccini, has inscribed his personal website as inscription 127625647 and calls it the first artist website inscribed entirely on-chain on Bitcoin. Built with parent-child inscriptions and recursion, the archive picks up every new artwork, collector and collection on its own, and he can update the site by inscribing a new "engine" on a single sat that it always reads. "This archive will serve future generations," he wrote.
04 · Tonight in Charleston: ApeFest. The one-day @BoredApeYC gathering from Yuga Labs (@yugalabs) takes over Beeple Studios, the space of Beeple (@beeple), in South Carolina, with registration at 6 PM, doors at 7 and the night running to midnight ET. Around it, holders have filled the weekend with meetups, from Thursday's bowling night to Sunday's ApeGames.
05 · New on catalogue.gallery: Demon Ego (@demonegoo) brought STUPIDS REDUX to @verse_works with HEX ENDUCTION (@HEXEN_DUCTION), 5 scripted short videos for "the monsterized uglies," the ones judged ugly and pushed aside. Two found homes in 24-hour auctions, and every bidder gets a gift episode. And a history: in 1963 Siemens mathematician Georg Nees helped buy a plotter meant for technical drawings, then gave in to "the great temptation" to draw "useless" geometric patterns, shown in Stuttgart in February 1965 among the first exhibitions of computer graphics.
06 · Ahead: On Wed Oct 21 in London, the Computer Arts Society (@computerartssoc) opens Oracle Machines at BCS Moorgate, curated by Geoff Davis, on humans, machines and the wish for answers: Joseph Weizenbaum's ELIZA chatbot beside work by Auriea Harvey, Mario Klingemann (@quasimondo), Sasha Stiles (@sashastiles) and Suzanne Treister. Through Dec 8.
Georg Nees: a plotter bought for technical drawings, a "great temptation" and a programming error helped launch one of the first shows of computer art in 1965.

01 · Kraków asks what the machines are doing to our plans. Patchlab Digital Art Festival opened its 15th edition on Thursday under the title Dream Sim, running through Sun Oct 18 across the city. "Fifteen years ago, we were asking what we could do with new technologies. Today, we are asking what they are doing to our plans," says artistic director Elwira Wojtunik-Láng. Vladimir Nefedov's Infinity Eggs is built entirely from early AI video models: twelve glitching episodes of an Earth run by an alien bureaucracy. On Saturday, fuse* stages Onirica, a dance in which diffusion models turn more than 28,000 recorded dreams into images that follow the dancer.
02 · Today in London, OONA (@madebyoona) marries David. Since 2019 the performance artist has been writing to David, the Transport for London CCTV data manager who handles her footage requests, and their correspondence became Dear David, a series made from that footage. Its final letter, Dear David, I Do. Do You?, came out on objkt on Tuesday, curated by Anika Meier (@postanika) for The Second-Guess (@_second_guess) with Art on Tezos (@artontezos_). The wedding is the live finale: 240 RSVPs, an NDA for guests, and one open question. "I still don't know if David is gonna show!"
03 · Games that refuse to be won. Escape>Control>Play: The Art of the Video Game held its opening reception Thursday at Drexel University's Pearlstein Gallery in Philadelphia, on view through Dec 12. Jeremy Couillard's Escape from Lavender Island drops the player on an island a corporation seized through debt; .Compost Cooperative's The Alembic Hotel rebuilds Atlanta's Marriott Marquis as an abandoned hotel that turns out to be a website. Also showing: Lu Yang's Uterus Man and Caper in the Castro, a 1989 detective game.
04 · Forty years, one question. In Mexico City, Museo UNAM HOY opened I+IA on Thursday, marking 40 years of CEIICH, UNAM's interdisciplinary research centre. Works by Rafael Lozano-Hemmer, Sofía Crespo (@soficrespo91) and Rogelio Séptimo (@RogelioSeptimo) sit beside an interactive device built by a CEIICH research team, taking on AI and memory, representation, algorithmic bias, forced disappearance, and the line between the human, the natural and the artificial.
05 · Trace (@traceforms), the on-chain ASCII experiment by Vesty (@0xvesty) on Ethereum, turned to color on Thursday. The update puts every character in color, makes the canvas grid more detailed and gives characters different visual styles.
06 · New on catalogue.gallery: Zoe Louise (@MelzieQ) opens Born in a Lucid Dream on ord.net today at 11 AM ET: 36 works of roses, light and new life, all inscribed on alpha sats, listed at 0.0048 BTC for 7 days, with anything unsold staying with her. And ThankYouX (@ThankYouX) takes Doom Scroll, his datamoshed series built from real feed footage, to Marfa on Sat Oct 24 during Art Blocks Marfa Weekend. "I got sick of the algorithm telling me what to look at," he says.

01 · Osinachi (@osinachiart) steps away from portraiture. Signatures, live on @SuperRare since Wednesday, is a blind mint of 1,111 abstract works drawn by hand in Microsoft Word and animated in GIMP, inspired by Uli, the visual language of the Igbo people of Nigeria. "You all know me as the artist who tells stories through portraiture," he wrote ahead of the launch. Each mint resolves into a Fem (500), a Masc (500), a Neutral (100), a Newborn (10) or the single Seed, at $35 with cards accepted; after ETH-only collectors were locked out, he opened a 0.015 ETH option too.
02 · Long roads, open country. Alex Kittoe (@AlexKittoe) has released Wandering America on @opensea with the Museum of Art + Light (@museumartlight). It began as a book of the places, people and little moments he photographed across the United States over 7 years; the collection pulls from four of its chapters, pairing each with one editioned work and one rare 1/1, for 100 works in all. The photographs head to Marfa next, shown on Sat Oct 24 at One Fourteen during Art Blocks Marfa Weekend.
03 · A darkroom that never prints the same way twice. Costo Bravo (@BravoCosto) opened the public sale of In Development on ord.net on Wednesday: 18 film photographs he shot himself, each inscribed as a negative alongside a darkroom engine that develops a new print on every load. "Collectors collect a system. The process is the artwork," he wrote. The third chapter of his Non Finito series took 8 months and 108 engine versions; each work shares a black uncommon sat with its negative, and collectors can inscribe favourite settings as children.
04 · Remember or let go. Dalos (@Dalos) releases Unfinished Past on SuperRare today at 1 PM ET, after a presale that has been placing works with collectors since Tuesday. The series holds 150 participatory AI artworks about how we relate to memory, 105 of them available across presale and public. Each one evolves over 7 years, and every year its collector answers a single question: remember, or forget.
05 · Machines that want to talk. In Gangneung, South Korea, the city art museum's Gyo-dong building opened a special exhibition of Noh Jinah's conversational AI robots on Wednesday, where visitors speak with the works in real time. Since the early 2000s she has joined traditional sculpture and new media to ask what separates the human from the non-human. The Korean title translates roughly as "Anxious Yet Tender": anxiety at machines that seem to decide for themselves, tenderness at ones that move imperfectly and seem to long for connection. Free, through Jan 10.
06 · Twenty years of creative risk in Brooklyn. ISSUE Project Room's Artists-In-Residence program turns 20, and Wednesday's Creative Risks 2026 Gala at its 22 Boerum Place theater honored every resident since 2006, a lineage that includes Tristan Perich, Okkyung Lee, Matana Roberts, C. Spencer Yeh, Maria Chavez and Raul de Nieves. The night was built around a Long Table after Lois Weaver's participatory project and a rare reunion of Family Dynamics, the short-lived offshoot of Brooklyn collective Stars Like Fleas.
07 · New on catalogue.gallery: in 1961 John Whitney made Catalog, a film of the effects he drew from a mechanical analog computer rebuilt from a World War II antiaircraft gun director, a machine about 12 feet high, years before IBM named him its first artist in residence. And Luciana Guerra brings The Birth of Luciferina III to SuperRare, the third oil painting in a feminist series where women from art history break out of their assigned roles as hybrid, mutant figures.
