“The root of the issue with financial consumer protection rules is that they degrade the responsibility necessary for freedom to flourish. Liberty cannot truly exist without personal responsibility, and consumers give up more of their liberty each time the government places a ‘pro-consumer’ mandate.”

Trump Accounts may soon be expanded even more to anyone under 40yrs old. That would be another 100 million people, on top of the 70 million kids and 3.5mil babies born each year. This according to Brad Gerstner who is the main guy spearheading efforts on this. He also said Elon is 'tip of iceberg' Nice scoop and piece on it from @LydiaMoynihan @nypost

Legacy banks are already reflexively blocking customers from using AI agents to manage their own accounts Does this open a new competitive landscape for banks seeking to offer tech and banking freedom? Competition killed stock trading commissions as we knew it. Is this next?

A 100% inheritance tax provides an incentive for rich people to take more premium-cabin trips before they die rather than invest, undermining capital formation and wages while benefiting airlines.

Americans being underwater on auto loans has been happening for years already. Fun fact: when I was pregnant with my son 7 years ago, I wanted to trade in my cute little coupe for a much more practical mid-sized SVU. Salesman did not believe me that I was up on my payments
BREAKING: America’s $1.7 trillion auto loan market is headed for a crash, per Reuters. Auto loans are now one of the biggest sources of household debt, bigger than credit cards. And the strain is showing: 1 in 5 Americans is behind on at least one loan, the highest since 2010, and the average car on the road is now nearly 13 years old, a record.

Eighteen years after failing during the 2008 financial crisis, @FannieMae & @FreddieMac remain under federal control and dominate a larger share of the mortgage market than ever. In my latest @CatoInstitute report, I explain why Fannie and Freddie were never truly private firms, and why blending public housing goals with private markets is a dangerous template for economic policy.

Elon Musk says he’ll give every child in the U.S. a share of SpaceX next year. There are about 73 million Americans under 18, which at SpaceX’s current price of around $157 would make the gift worth roughly $11 billion.

"What is one of [Trump's] answers to the ongoing affordability crisis? Supporting a policy that will effectively take away your credit-card rewards. Seriously." Read more of @Marc_Hyden's recent piece on Trump's misguided push for the CCCA here: times-herald.com/opinion/tru…

You can blame most of this on regulations btw
Letters I've received from my bank recently: - 43 reminders that I've chosen to go paperless - 36 notices of nothing in particular - 1 immediate, urgent task that will permanently destroy my credit if left unresponded to for >3 business days

All I’m asking for is a 2-cent wealth tax on the richest Americans.

"The company is a neutral exchange platform, or broker, that has no vested interest in the outcome of any trade. It is paid by a small transaction fee on each 'contract.' Participants make a 'yes' or 'no' prediction on some outcome such as a football game, weather event, or election result. One is always trading against other participants, not the house," writes @StevenGreenhut in a fantastic piece in @amspectator: spectator.org/why-prediction…

This is a really interesting finding. This might mean that when money is on the line, people are less likely to fall for viral rumors. That could have really profound impacts on the way we digest information
A debunked rumor about James Talarico visiting a mental hospital in Ohio dominated social media last week. Traders on Kalshi, however, did not buy the rumor. Talarico’s odds remained stable even as the rumor gained millions of views

JP Morgan Chase is blocking agents. And that's ok! Ideally I want agents and AI tools to be able to work with anything, but as I wrote, highly regulated industries with laws like KYC or other privacy regulations have to be careful. We might need changes in law, or banks might need to build more tailored tools. But right now it is risky for some industries to allow agents to roam freely under existing law
