There’s a 🚨state of emergency🚨 in UK HE.
If management won’t rule out compulsory redundancies UCU branches should ballot, & maintain rolling strike mandates ready to fight the chaos they bring to our lives & our sector.
We need a national @UCU campaign to support this.
💖🆘✊
Over 20000 jobs lost in UK Universities in 2024-2025
For context, miners' strike in 1984-85 was called over the loss of 20000 jobs
This puts into context the scale of devastation presided over by @bphillipsonMP @Jacqui_Smith1

It was an absolute honour to represent my branch of @ucu - @CardiffUCU - to give a speech, and carry our banner, in the @CardiffTC Mayday rally & parade.
Solidarity with all of our Union comrades in Wales, the UK, and across the world!
Our rep Dr Andy Williams (@llantwit) addressing the @CardiffTC Mayday Rally on our recent win in defence of members’ jobs at Cardiff University.
On winning, losing, solidarity, love, & the power of our collective direct action.

The @UCUCymru rally and lobby of politicians over the future of FE &HE in Wales was very lively, & very loud. @CardiffUCU were joined by students making the case against Cardiff Uni’s cruel & unnecessary job and programme cuts.
Intervention by the @WelshGovernment is needed!

Today we were at the Senedd calling for the Welsh Government to provide additional support to pensioners who have been hit hardest by the cuts to the winter fuel payment.
More must be done to protect those pensioners most in need.

"For them to not even want to engage with us, in really what are some quite modest requests, you know, people being able to afford to live. It's heartbreaking"
A powerful message from a member at @ValleyVets.
@VetPartnersLtd take action and give your workers what they deserve.

Come to our Port Talbot #SupportUKSteel day on 1st September.
Bring your kids, family and friends for a free meal, live music, stalls and free activities including a bouncy castle, face painting, crafts and games.
Tata #Steel workers will have an opportunity to discuss the campaign next steps with Unite Reps and Officers, and to find out more about the Welsh Learning Fund.
Everyone is welcome - let’s show we're united in defending jobs and our communities!

Our @unitetheunion members we’re in Cardiff Bay last night chatting to @GleeClubCardiff customers about the company’s relentless union busting agenda.
Great to hear so many people voicing their concerns and showing their support for the workers.

Despite @unitetheunion now being recognised at @GleeClubCardiff, one of our leading members was demoted recently, meaning her wage has dropped by 10%.
Tomorrow we'll be in Cardiff protesting this blatant attempt of union busting.
Join us if you can and show your support.

We urge all @cardiffuni/@cardiffstudents students to sign this petition.
Only the VCs can end this dispute.
They tried bullying staff.
They tried lying to students about the effects of the MAB.
They tried trashing standards to break it.
Now it’s time to #SettleTheDispute!👇✊
Thousands of final year students are receiving their transcripts , the culmination of years of hard work, many will receive ‘missing marks’ from assessments not yet assessed. Sign the petition to ask our Vice chancellor to end the dispute chng.it/XrHssFzdnV
