Deeply worrying โฆsuspect same would be found in Wales where Cardiff Council has continued to dispose of open public space - was the equivalent of 450 full size tennis courts 18 months back
Once gone, it is never replaced :(

Gr8 to see & hear Maindy velodrome being mentioned so much today as G brings down the curtain on a truly memorable cycling career
Time now for the Labour politicians in Cardiff to agree it should now come under the stewardship of independent trustees โฆ 1/2

As G acknowledges Maindy velodrome on his way past, the community continues to push for independent trustees to be appointed so that it is never again under threat from political control

๐จ URGENT CALL TO ACTION
#Famine must be stopped at all costs. Ending it is a race against time.ย An immediate ceasefire and end to the conflict is critical to save lives and end catastrophic suffering in #Gaza.
๐ฃ Immediate and sustained cessation of hostilities
๐ฃGuarantee unconditional and safe humanitarian access
๐ฃImmediate, largescale, unobstructed multisector humanitarian assistance
๐ฃ Protect civilians and critical infrastructure
๐ฃ Restore commercial flows, market systems, essential services, and local food production

Famine is confirmed by @theIPCinfo in #Gaza City and the surrounding areas.
They project that famine will spread further south by the end of September.
This is man-made.
For almost 6 months the Israeli Authorities have critically restricted food and other essential goodsโincluding water, medicine, shelter and fuel.

There was no competitive tendering process - Live Nation & its affiliates and partners is the Councilโs partner of choice so there is no commercial sensitivity that affects negotiations

Looking very likely Cardiff Council failed to conduct legal due diligence before giving go ahead to Council Leaderโs pet project, Blackweir Live, that could be in breach of planning law/regs
Instead trees felled, habitats uprooted and normal use of Bute Park disrupted ..1/2

โ[Cardiff Council Leader] Thomas said the [tourism tax] levy would allow the city to "recoup some of the costs" of holding events like the recent Oasis shows.โ
Why? Has he been failing to recoup enough from gig organisers? Have residents been subsidising his pet project?

Guys dismantling Blackweir Live
BUT the 28 days for temporary change of use ended yesterday and so Blackweir should have been available and accessible for normal use today
Council entered into a contract it knew would be in breach of 28 days limit
Why? Do different rules apply?

Sound travels ..and wind can assist it
Quite staggering that these important scientific facts donโt appear to have been taken into account when they set the sound levels for Blackweir Live
No way should I be hearing lyrics in my house approx 2 miles away whatever the weather

Welsh gov had perfect opp when deciding location of new Velindre. Had they collocated on UHW benefiting patients, @CardiffSaveโฉ couldโve been managed & improve biodiversity & made accessible.

2-tier regs?
Council knew months ago Live Nation needed more than the 28 days of permitted temporary change of use for Blackweir Live in Bute Park yet only now they say they looking at whether it needed specific permission for this change to run for the best of the summer โฆ1/2

Totally disingenuous of Cardiff Council to claim most of Bute Park is accessible during its 3 month gig & event season
These were taken on my way thru on a non-event day
Absolutely clear that Bute Park neither presents a welcome vista to visitors or is widely accessible 1/2
