I vibe-coded my own launcher to never interact with Epic Launcher again. Lightweight, portable and fast.
This is a low effort work and I don't care as it solved my problems with both Epic Launcher and other third party ones.
At least it'll never block me from doing my work...🙃

CapFrameX 1.9 has been released, bringing a major upgrade over previous versions.
Faster load times, better data capturing, snappier UI.
A big thank you to @CapFrameX for accepting and integrating our performance improvements and UI patches

🔻 CapFrameX 1.9.0
CapFrameX is a powerful tool that can record and clearly display GPU and CPU benchmarks. Alternatively, the tool can also analyze benchmarks recorded with OCAT . CapFrameX is free and open-source software
The capture function is based on PresentMon . Recordings are conveniently analyzed directly within the program: performance parameters such as average, stuttering, and percentiles of FPS and frame times can be calculated with a single click. Frame time graphs and quantile curves (L-shapes) can be viewed for each individual recording and compared with each other.

DLSS 5 CAN RUN ON AN RTX 4060!!!
Well, performance isn't great of course...
Here is Control running at 1440p using DLSS 4.5 SR Perf and Neural Rendering Off vs On.

The gains in CPU limited scenarios are gigantic, 41%. Improved latency too.
This is by far the best part about the engine update, alongside the improved visuals of course.

STALKER 2's 2.0 Update seems to provide a massive improvement to GPU and CPU performance compared to the previous 1.9 patch and the launch version!
The game transitioned from UE 5.1 to UE 5.5 bringing also some visual changes.

SignalRGB is one of the worst tools you can install on your PC if you play CS2 ‼️
SignalRGB On: 995.4 FPS, 278.3 FPS
SignalRGB Off: 1083.1, 555.4 (🔼99%)
Uninstalled: 1067.6, 569.7 (🔼104%)
I thought @CapFrameX was bugging out, but the real culprit was this RGB software.

Just published a PC performance analysis & tuning guide for Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced on @wccftech. The game is highly visually impressive and generally performs well, though it certainly could be better. I hope it's useful to many people! Link: wccftech.com/how-to/assassin…

I used Fable 5 to port Command & Conquer: Generals Zero Hour to the iPhone and iPad!
This is the actual 2003 engine compiled for ARM64 natively, no emulator.
Campaign, skirmish, Generals Challenge all work with touch controls built for an RTS.

Just published a PC perf analysis/tuning guide for Steam Early Access game Fatekeeper on @wccftech. Was highly impressed with this game as it's one of the best looking & running UE5 games. Hopefully this guide further helps people get the most of it. Link: wccftech.com/how-to/fatekeep…

Just published my most ambitious article so far at @wccftech. It's a guide about profiling modern PC games with NVIDIA Nsight Graphics on NV GPUs, with Cyberpunk 2077 as a case study. Hope that people can enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it! wccftech.com/how-to/how-to-p…

I spent some time looking into DLSS 5 rendering from the pure tech side - so ignoring the artistic debate for a second, I think it may already be showing early signs of something much more interesting:

Saw an interesting Steam forum post from Nixxes regarding DEATH STRANDING 2: ON THE BEACH possible performance issues due to PCIe bandwidth, so I decided to measure it on my system using @CapFrameX, and I indeed saw quite a bit of PCIe traffic when moving around in the game.

Digital Foundry was super excited about the DLSS 5 announcement (because it was awesome) so they published a "FIRST LOOK" showing it off and praising it. Then the angry anti-AI mob came for them and ripped them apart and they got bullied into backpedalling.
"We should have waited before posting our first round of coverage. We should have waited to see reactions from the audience."
Translation: "We should have waited to see what the consensus mob opinion was before we posted our own individual thoughts."
This is the reason why games suck these days. The mob bullies people into groupthink. People get so scared of giving their take they wait until the "Consensus approved opinion™️" is formed before they speak.
Nobody wants to risk having the first/independent thought and risk being yelled at by the angry mob.
It's super unfortunate, and the backpedalling here makes it worse because it signals cowardice and the majority of the mob doesn't care anyways, they'll find a new thing to hate.
