Today, Jack Connors passed away, and Boston lost a true giant. He was not just a successful advertising titan and powerbroker. He was a consummate giver and doer of so much good. In a recent interview, when asked “What would make Boston better?”, he answered “If the rich people cared about the poor people.” He exemplified that with his commitment to @CampHarborView , to antipoverty measures, and to so many worthy causes. I feel very fortunate to have seen him recently at the @CampHarborView Beach Ball and to have been a beneficiary of his goodness. Three years ago when I was a new candidate, he took an early interest in me, hosting a fundraiser for me before we ever met in person. I was struck by his sincerity & good nature. He embraced the progress and true possibility of our city. Boston will feel the loss of his unparalleled generosity. It shouldn’t be a radical idea that we should care for our neighbors in a meaningful way that could change their lives, which is what Jack did every day. May we carry on his powerful legacy. Thank you Jack, for all you’ve given our great city. My heart and prayers are with your loved ones during this difficult time. May you rest in perfect peace.
