A founder of a startup I funded had these brass plaques made to put up over his and his cofounder's desks. (He's Build Stuff, she's Talk to Users.)

An initial startup idea can't usually be both grand and precise. In practice they're usually either grand and vague or precise and small. Precise and small is better. You know who your initial users are, and you expand outward. With grand and vague you can't even get started.

Will designers survive general intelligence? If AI agents can handle visual execution, what’s left for design? Context and agency. The best designers are positioning themselves to influence the product directly and own the iteration cycle. Watch my full Design Chat with @steveruizok at @spc

The obvious path for designers in the AI age is to move closer to code. But the more valuable path may be upstream: closer to the customer, the business, and the problem. If everyone can prompt agents to code, the scarce skill becomes knowing why, what, and how to build.

the workflow is great, guys, thanks for sharing and especially showing examples @chopstixcankill! overall it feels like a designer’s life is just scattered across all these tools now. rn i have cmux, figma, opencode, vercel, and obsidian open just to build a simple prototype, makes me wish for a new design tool that brings everything together anyone on the horizon to fix this?

1 designer. 20 engineers. Tommy Hung @chopstixcankill is the founding designer at Monaco and somehow keeps up with the whole eng team. We got into how on the pod — AI as thought partner, agents shipping prototypes, the workflow that makes it sustainable. Check out the full episode: youtu.be/CKJ4xuv3mcc

Went on PeopleWhoDesign with @CameronCress to talk through building my portfolio in Claude Code, shipping a recipe app for my wife, and connecting Claude directly to my Figma files via MCP.

the Shopify product design apprentice program is a fantastic idea; design needs more mentorship. someone should do an equivalent for brand design

Designers shape the world so might as well start with your own. Loved yapping with @CameronCress about the design brain, design journey, startups, and how building Pillowtalk rewired how I see creativity (and chaos). youtu.be/IW-hxEwTKR0

Had a great convo with @Belente! From Spotify designer to co-founding Pillowtalk, building a voice-first AI journaling app, and why design-led led companies matter more than ever! youtube.com/watch?v=IW-hxEwT…
