People keep asking whether you should audit the design or the build. Honest answer is they catch different things. Before dev you catch flow order and contrast while it’s still cheap to change. After dev you catch real content, empty states, and how slow the thing actually is. #buildinpublic

Yesterday’s graphic listed a @uxsignal Figma plugin I’ve never actually announced. A few of you caught that. 👀 It’s live. Score your work before anyone spends a sprint (and 💰) building it.

One month of @uxsignal being real and not just a thing I kept saying I’d finish. 25 signups. 46 audits on actual sites. Average score of 71, which is a polite way of saying most of the internet is a C. 🤷‍♂️ #BuildInPublic

Started keeping a list of words that mean a human didn’t write it. “Lands” is at the top. Then I searched my own timeline. Anyway. Claude, my brother in Christ, we did this together.

UX Signal® now has an API. (nerds rejoice 🎉) One request starts a UX audit of any page or site. A second reads back the score, the top issues and the fix for each, as plain JSON. Run it before every release, or on every client site you ship. uxsignal.io/integrations/api

UX Signal isn't only for public sites. Signed-in products get love too. Introducing our Chrome extension. You’re already signed in, so it audits the page on your screen. Your password never leaves your browser.

Small thing we shipped this week that agencies will care about. When you send a client a UX report, “11 issues” can land like an insult. “11 opportunities” starts a conversation. So now it’s a switch on each client link. Same findings, same score, different framing.

An AI agent reads your site before a person does more often than you'd think. So I wanted to know what it can see when it gets there. Six checks, straight off the page. In every UX Signal report now.

Anyone else a perpetual tinkerer? Just pivoted our homepage hero section because it looked like we were talking to other SaaS companies instead of our true target: designers and agencies. UX Signal is not just a product benchmarking tool, it's a sales enablement tool for makers. Show the gap, fix the gap, prove the fix, repeat. Thoughts?

Went from "hey you should add…" to live in production in half an hour today. Talk to your customers. It's like they know what they want.

Here's what it looks like when it finds something. Same page, as it is now and with longer text. The headline runs 244px past the edge of a phone, and the whole page starts scrolling sideways. (The site is made-up)

And when it finds nothing? It used to show one grey sentence: "Nothing stopped fitting." Dullest possible way to give someone good news. Now it shows the test passing. 367 texts made longer, 0 that stopped fitting.

I rebuilt this one input about a dozen times. Mostly because I kept adding features, and this single field had to handle all of them: public sites, products behind a login, four experience types. It also had to explain them—in one component. Here's where it landed.

I've run a business long enough to know the difference between busy and working. Busy is answering things. Working is deciding things. And sadly, both look like me slumped over my laptop, chewing almonds directly out of my fist like a gorilla in captivity.
