A documentary celebrating the workers and machines of Scotland's traditional weaving industry, while also exploring the urgency of preserving the disappearing craft, has won global praise 👏 “When we think about tartan, tweed, or any sort of textile, you don't think about the places, you don't think about the people who are making them,” director Callum McCulloch-Nowlan told The National. “You think about the end product, but without thinking about the people that are making them and the places that are making them, these things could be lost. “I don't know about you, but I don't want these things to be made by machines. I think it should be made by people, and there should be people very much involved in those processes.”

I’ve never worked with him, but from these accounts, it sounds like Greg Wallace was very inappropriate on set. The bigger story however, is that in any other workplace outside of TV, Wallace would likely have been sacked 10 years ago (1/4)

There will inevitably be another celebrity presenter in the news again in the future - as long as there remains a huge power imbalance, there will be those who take advantage of it or think the rules don’t apply to them (3/4)

But with 70% of the TV industry currently out of work, peoples’ appetite for calling out bad behaviour is only going to decrease, unless we look at the system and not just the symptoms (4/4)

Why is a programme that is bought, sold and owned in London able to qualify as Scottish? It is absolutely for @Ofcom and the BBC to answer that.

When trust in journalism is crumbling, asking how much we contribute to the problem feels less like a question and more like a necessity. Loving Question Everything from @PlacementTheory highly recommend it to anyone grappling with their own journalistic existential crisis
Question Everything is also on YouTube! We're experimenting with a segment called "Drinks for Five", where 5 journalists get together to talk shop and speak candidly about their worries about our profession. And some ideas for fixing it tumble out too. youtube.com/watch?v=6UwGQ41x…

Really well put together doc. Would definitely recommend catching on @BBCiPlayer I've definitely seen a growth on social media of #TradWife content but have naively, mostly laughed it off. This does a great job of investigating and interrogating these growing trends
🚨🎬 My new documentary, “America’s New Female Right” is out now. Watch on iPlayer or @bbcthree tonight at 9PM. Made by @MindhouseTV.

A couple of observations, from a lawyer’s perspective: He wasn’t cleared of all - or any - charges. The charges were dropped. So Greenwood’s statement, which I assume was agreed with the club, is misleading. The club statement: “we have concluded that the material uploaded does not paint the full picture and that Mason did not commit the offenses [ic] for which he was originally charged” Careful language - do they mean he may have committed other offences? And did they get advice from a criminal lawyer - because the reports all say it was the club’s general counsel who provided the legal input. Finally - reports that there are “no plans” for him to return after a loan. This seems to be hedging bets. It’s an odd situation. They seem to have been willing to reintegrate him but have now changed their minds. There is an acceptance he made ‘mistakes’ but what do they/does he mean? If there is an alternative, innocent explanation for the information in the public domain the club could release it. If there isn’t, then why was the plan to reintegrate him?
Mason Greenwood statement: "I want to start by saying I understand that people will judge me because of what they have seen and heard on social media, and I know people will think the worst. I was brought up to know that violence or abuse in any relationship is wrong, I did not do the things I was accused of, and in February I was cleared of all charges. However, I fully accept I made mistakes in my relationship, and I take my share of responsibility for the situations which led to the social media post. I am learning to understand my responsibilities to set a good example as a professional footballer, and I’m focused on the big responsibility of being a father, as well as a good partner. Today’s decision has been part of a collaborative process between Manchester United, my family and me. The best decision for us all, is for me to continue my football career away from Old Trafford, where my presence will not be a distraction for the club. I thank the club for their support since I joined aged seven. There will always be a part of me which is United. I am enormously grateful to my family and all my loved ones for their support, and it is now for me to repay the trust those around me have shown. I intend to be a better footballer, but most importantly a good father, a better person, and to use my talents in a positive way on and off the pitch."

Under no circumstance should Mason Greenwood ever play for Manchester United again. We've heard the recordings and seen the photos - to give him complete impunity because he's good at kicking a football is sickening #GreenwoodOut
