I wanted to show how janky the AI slop is of the FilmCraft software. I wanted to set the stage for how bad it is, and how little care there has actually been in implementing this tool, and most definitely the entire Craft suite too. It's all AI slop that does not even work.

Valve: ”Here’s a new character that uses chess pieces as ammo and everytime he reloads the chess board has 32 different variations that reference a historical chess game” Riot: ”You want another sexy woman with a 6-pack? No? Uuuh… okay champ with a dash reset final offer.”

Roughly in chronological order of when I played them. Once online multiplayer became ubiquitous that kind of took over all my time. Honorable mentions to other PS2 era 3D platformers like Sly Cooper, Jak & Daxter, etc. as well as the other MMOs of the early 2000s like OSRS and WoW.

It's funny and depressing that game engine dev is seen as this unique place where "proper engineering" happens. Imagine if bridges & skyscrapers routinely collapsed and the civil engineers were on the internet saying "wow that LEGO company sure knows how to make bricks, anyway,

Apparently on shader step debugging is just not a thing for AMD gpus? RenderDoc is CPU side. I was trying to debug an issue with my shadow mapping implementation and could only finally diagnose with some rubber ducking via AI since the shader vs texture values were different. Is there something I'm missing?

Spent a bit of time improving the resolution of my shadow mapping implementation via blended linear + logarithmic cascade splits. Before, after, and after with PCF. Still doesn't look great but much better than before IMO.

Implemented very basic cascade shadow mapping over the last ~10 days

Took me about a day and a half (of my only few hours per day of project time) to figure this issue out. I was sampling the shadow mapping textures based on each cascades light view projection rather than the world space Z depth each cascades light was supposed to be handling.

Did the ref give that penalty to Brazil just so he wouldn’t get the fans coming after him for the rest of his life?

Trying to plan a trip for 19 people is interesting. How do I explain to an onsen ryokan that we're inquiring about booking all of their rooms 😅
