Airbnb CEO @bchesky says the chatbot is a "pre-AI interface," rather than the end-state interface for artificial intelligence:
"We're in the MS-DOS phase of AI."
"The future AI interface will have a reference to chat, but it's probably going to be much more visual. Most people aren't completely text-based."
"The chatbot is really a pre-AI interface that we've plugged onto this incredibly powerful engine."
"I really think the models are even more powerful than people realize, because we have hardly harnessed them."

30 micro product design tips I wish I had learned earlier:
1. Start mobile. Always.
2. Never ship on a Friday.
3. Test apps with one hand only.
4. Give users one job per screen.
5. Cut the “cool” stuff nobody uses.
6. If it looks slick but feels off, it's off.
7. Contrast should work in grayscale.
8. Watch users use it. Don't say a word.
9. Everything should feel faster than it is.
10. If your UI needs a tooltip, it's not done.
11. Don't remove clicks. Remove thinking.
12. Two font sizes. Maybe three. That's it.
13. Design for the distracted version of you.
14. Don't break patterns just to be different.
15. Review your design after a walk. It helps.
16. Design drunk, edit sober. (kidding... kinda)
17. Write the logic before you draw the screen.
18. Devs are your teammates, not your enemies.
19. Prototype fast. Feedback's where the gold is.
20. Use real copy. Fake copy fakes the feedback.
21. Design at turbo speed - speed kills overthinking.
22. Desktop is a nice-to-have. Mobile is a must-have.
23. Build a swipe file. Not for screenshots - for study.
24. Design empty states, error states, & loading states.
25. Steal layouts. Rebuild them. Learn why they work.
26. Animation should feel like butter, not a PowerPoint.
27. Users don't scroll to explore. They scroll to escape.
28. Skeuomorphism can be genius. Pick your moments.
29. Your portfolio needs 3 projects max. Quality > quantity.
30. Learn to code a little. Designers who can't are dinosaurs.
BONUS: Copywork (copying designs pixel by pixel to learn how they’re done) is the most underrated design hack. Nobody talks about it.

UX, design, actual dedication to the craft will take center stage in this next moment
Actually make something people want. Software and coding won't be the gating factor. It is the ability to be a polymath and smart/effective in many domains together that creates great software.
Yo! @George_Kurtz I can fill in at @IMSA while you figure things out at @CrowdStrike.

Designers are often viewed as "difficult people" in their organisation, constantly asking challenging questions, ignoring the status quo, and pushing for better outcomes.
By contrast the "team players" get on and do what they're told. Often out of a desire for an easy life.
Man. Listening to @bchesky talk about how he thinks about designing the business that is @Airbnb get me fired up. I’m violently nodding over here. Well done B! 💪

As a director your job is to fight for the best movie.
Your DP wants more time to get the perfect shot.
Your AD wants to reduce coverage to finish on schedule.
Your actors want to change the blocking.
Your editor wants to pull out all the music.
Your composer wants to add more music.
Everyone wants to make their work shine (as they should).
Your job is to navigate all the conflicting input and synthesize it into the best and most cohesive movie.
If you can do that, you can direct.
