There's still an opportunity to get involved with the 'Doing intersectionality ‘in justice’' project - aiming to explore young people's experience of policing in Scotland, and how police officers recognise and respond to young people's experiences. If you work with young people (14-17), please share this opportunity to take part in creative focus groups and interviews. For more information, you can visit buff.ly/Jre03Jb or email the project team at [email protected] Challenging Justice Inequalities is funded by the Nuffield Foundation and is a collaboration between the Children & Young People's Centre for Justice (CYCJ) and colleagues across @unistrathclyde (in CELCIS, @lawstrath and Strathclyde Institute of Education) as well as third sector partners Action for Children and @includem2000.

This year’s #HumanRightsDay theme is Human Rights, Our Everyday Essentials - showing how our human rights shape our daily lives. At the heart of everything we do at CYCJ is to ensure that Scotland’s approach to children and young people is rights-respecting, contributing to safer communities, better outcomes for our children, young people and families. For children and young people in Scotland, the incorporation of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child was a significant step forward in making children’s rights fundamental to their every day experience.  We know that there is more that can be done to bridge the gap between the aspirations of the UNCRC and children’s every day experiences and this is central to our work. We are pushing, for example, for new pieces of legislation to be entirely within the scope of UNCRC. And check out Lauren Emmerson’s blog from this year’s RJ week, where she explores how an increase in the access to restorative justice could bring Scotland’s justice system closer to the detail of the UNCRC. “Rights are intrinsic to justice and justice relies on a legal framework to support access and protection.” Read her blog here: buff.ly/lRzcr1Y

CYCJ in collaboration with the Lucy Faithfull Foundation have created a new eLearning module on Digital Safeguarding in Practice, to provide a greater awareness of the risks present for children using digital technology. Children have a right to access digital technology and online information, and it is critical when in that environment they are safe from abuse and harm. Key elements of this instance of learning are: building digital awareness, identifying indicators of online sexual abuse and grooming, promoting safe use of digital technologies and responding to harmful online behaviour. Take this course flexibly at your own pace: 💻Fully Online ⏰Four hours With support from the Scottish Government, we are now able to offer this course to learners free of charge. To enrol, simply click below to access the enrolment page: buff.ly/QEdLAuv
