Activities allowed for great interaction between Y9 students, exploring similarities & differences. We explored powerful self-portraits of Holocaust artist Felix Nussbaum & discussed how he expressed his Jewish identity in his earlier art to being dehumanised by the Nazis. 2/3

Today marks the 81st anniversary of the Liberation of Bergen-Belsen by the British forces. I created these pieces on the 75th anniversary to remember all the victims, survivors, and liberators of Bergen-Belsen. What did Liberation really mean? How does one return to life?

I lit my candle to remember the six million innocent Jewish men, women, and children murdered during the Holocaust. To remember the darkness of the past & to create light together, standing united against antisemitism and all prejudice. #LightTheDarkness #HolocaustMemorialDay
