🐴 Normandy turns 14 today! 🎂
Normandy is our handsome Purebred Clydesdale, who is a pleasure to be around with his calm & confident disposition. He had the privilege of being Chief Constable @neufeld_mark’s steed for the #CalgaryStampedeParade2024.

🧡 The @CalgaryPolice Mounted Unit enjoyed a visit with the @CampCourageFRS participants while they learned about the capabilities of the unit: #Patrol, #Search, #Ceremonial & #CrowdManagement.

Who can believe it's already been a week since @CalgaryStampede parade day in #YYC!
🐎 With 3 more fun-filled days of #Stampede left, remember to be safe, sensible & kind to one another.

🐎 Join us as we wish Police Service Horse (PSH) Ortona a fantastic retirement after 6 years of service.
He was especially talented at helping to train new officers joining the Mounted Unit to learn their equitation & Mounted Patrol skills.
Today we pause to remember those that have sacrificed so we can enjoy the freedom we do today. We honour you and acknowledge the ultimate sacrifices that have been made.

Happy Halloween! We hope everyone has a safe and fun day! Don't forget to take time out with friends like #PoliceServiceHorses Ortona and Gladius!
Maybe even try a little #bobbingforapples like PSH Dieppe!

We were honoured to attend Equine & Art with
@neufeld_mark last week. Along with @CPFYYC, renowned artist Paul Van Ginkel, and @global_leslie, we celebrated the special edition 2024 @CalgaryPolice Mounted Unit calendar.

We'd like to formally introduce Jake! A retired @CalgaryPolice Service dog, Jake is a Belgian Malinois who moved to Canada from Slovakia. He was an asset to our Canine Unit, and now hangs around our barn! Jake is fun to have around, and also great for desensitizing our herd! 🥎🐕

We were excited to host a quarry course for interested @CalgaryPolice members this week. These hard-workers learned the basics of horse care and equitation. They are invaluable to our unit as they help us train and look after our amazing herd!

Weekends are the time to enjoy breakfast in bed! Or in #PoliceServiceHorse Gladius's case, it's more like bed in breakfast!
Morning hay doubles as a comfy place to rest for our young PSH-in-training!

When you make best friends with another newly retired #PoliceServiceHorse, life is pretty great!
@CalgaryPolice Retired PSH Vimy is living his best life with retired @VPDHorses Police Service Horse, Flex.
We are so happy to see these boys enjoy their #RetirementGoals together!
We are feeling especially grateful this #Thanksgiving.
From the tireless farmers, veterinarians, and farriers that we rely on, to the @CalgaryPolice members that give their time and energy to our unit, we couldn't do it without you!
