⚠️ On Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2026, shortly after 8 p.m., our officers stopped a vehicle weaving through traffic on Glenmore Trail. The driver was travelling 146 km/h in an 80 km/h zone. The driver only held a Class 7 driver's licence, which requires a supervising driver to be in the vehicle. No supervising driver was present. The driver was ticketed for travelling 64 km/h over the speed limit, driving without a supervisor, careless driving & having illegally tinted windows. ‼️ A Class 7 licence comes with conditions. Learner drivers must be accompanied by a fully licensed, non-GDL driver who is at least 18 years old and seated beside them. These conditions help new drivers gain experience safely while learning the rules of the road. 🔗 Join the Drive to Zero: calgary.ca/visionzero

Every child deserves a safe start. 💙 This Child Abuse Prevention Month, we're highlighting the Prenatal Outreach Support Team (POST), a partnership between Kindred Connections Society, CUPS Calgary & the Calgary Police Service. POST provides support to vulnerable pregnant individuals & new parents. There have been over 100 referrals to POST so far in 2026. One woman came to POST while experiencing homelessness, mental health challenges, & domestic abuse, all while preparing to welcome her third child. Through consistent support including weekly check-ins, connections to housing, healthcare & community resources, she began taking meaningful steps toward stability. Despite facing significant barriers, she remained committed to creating a better future for her children. Today, she is safely caring for her children, has strong supports in place, and is thriving as a parent. Her story is a powerful reminder that small steps can lead to life-changing outcomes. By supporting parents, POST helps create safer, healthier futures for children.

In 5 out of the 7 fatal pedestrian collisions this year, the pedestrian had the right of way. Drivers need to watch out for pedestrians, but there are also steps pedestrians can take to stay safe. Having the right of way doesn't guarantee it’s safe to cross the road. Taking a couple seconds to be sure can save your life. Keep yourself safe by: ✅ Looking both ways & behind you before stepping into the road. ✅ Crossing at marked crosswalks & intersections. ✅ Making eye contact with drivers. ✅ Staying alert and keeping phones, headphones & other distractions to a minimum. ✅ Wearing bright or reflective clothing when walking at night or in low-light conditions.

🔵 CHARGES LAID 🔵 We have laid additional sexual assault charges against a Calgary massage therapist after 4 new victims came forward following a media release issued earlier this year. In July 2026, we charged a massage therapist with sexual assault in connection with an incident that occurred during a massage appointment in August 2025, at Kinesio Massage Therapy located at 3949 17 Ave. S.W. Public safety isn’t only about responding when a crime occurs. It’s about understanding who is driving crime, identifying risks early and taking proactive steps to disrupt and prevent criminal activity. This is why the Calgary Police Service 2027 to 2030 Business Plan and Budget proposal supports intelligence-led policing, investigative technology and offender management resources. These tools help officers identify high-risk offenders sooner, monitor criminal activity more effectively and focus resources where they can have the highest impact and protect Calgarians from being victims of crime. These investments strengthen the Service’s ability to proactively reduce victimization and improve outcomes for the community
