By age 30 everyone should have that one friend who can ID the bird you saw from the most terrible description while still being delighted to share their knowledge and experience.

Building collisions kill millions of birds—like this Blackpoll Warbler—each year. Many of these deaths can be prevented. Urge your members of Congress to support the Bird-Safe Buildings Act—a bipartisan, common-sense solution to prevent bird collisions. bit.ly/3kMYKzO

Today especially, we remember Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Birdwatching and bird conservation are not exempt from the systemic inequities that Dr. King fought so hard to dismantle. We are grateful for his teachings as we work toward a more inclusive and equitable birding community.

Another Salida deer stressed and forced to be tranquilized because someone carelessly strung holiday light within reach of its antlers. Luckily @COParksWildlife Officer Kim Woodruff was able to dart the deer and remove the lights. Please decorate with #wildlife in mind.

White-breasted nuthatches can be spotted year round across much of the country. They prefer areas with large trees and can be seen visiting feeders for sunflowers, suet and peanuts.

The bear rescued from the fire on Tuesday is now at CPW's rehab facility in the San Luis Valley. It's going to be OK. Probably 6-8 weeks and will be ready for release. Here is a video of it in a pen yesterday. Sore feet, but it's getting around. @COParksWildlife

First time I’ve seen an osprey over our home in North Denver.
One of the pair was lucky enough to snag lunch!

Be sure to take down those birdfeeders. You don't want to lure in a #bear so close to your home.
