I heard more about Military Matters, which provides expert housing advice to the Armed Forces and veteran community and connects people with the wider military support network.

Neiman Marcus closed its downtown Dallas flagship yesterday. The store played a notable role in the history of desegregation in Dallas during the 1960s.
Previously, Black shoppers across the US could enter department stores, but they weren't allowed to try on clothes before purchasing without adhering to certain conditions. For instance, they had to try on clothes over their clothes, put on protective covers when trying on hats, or weren't allowed to make returns once they purchased clothes and brought them home. These policies stemmed from the racist fear that white customers would refuse merchandise previously worn by Black shoppers.
The downtown Neiman Marcus flagship was one of the first major Dallas businesses that broke with these practices. In 1961, the company desegregated its Zodiac Room, a swanky restaurant frequented by Dallas elites. Neiman Marcus later welcomed Black shoppers without restrictions. These victories were achieved through the efforts of Civil Rights activists, along with support from Neiman Marcus president Stanley Marcus, who was an early advocate for desegregation in Dallas. The Neiman Marcus store manager purportedly warned Marcus that he would ruin his business — and indeed, some shoppers closed their accounts — but he stuck with his decision.
At the time of the flagship's closure, the Main Street store had been open for 112 years.

Appeal: Does anyone recognise this Jewish refugee Lily, taken in by the Kendrick family in Oxshott, Surrey during the Second World War?
It would mean everything to learn more about her... and is she still alive today???

Why should I tell my GP that I served?
Letting your GP practice know that you have served in the HM Armed Forces means your veteran status can be recorded on your healthcare record.

I had 3-4 weeks off Twitter with autistic burnout recently & my engagement is right down (also due to standing up to a vile group of trolls on here-they reported me lots, restricting my reach). If you see this photo it would be so ace if you could RT it or drop me a quick hello if you have a moment, both of which help an account get back on track. I also hope these little violas ping some floral dopamine in your meat computer & give you a small lift 🌿

LBC has asked @RestoreBritain if Mr Lowe will be retracting this statement and apologising to those who lost their children and their mother on that horrendous day 30 years ago.
Replying to @RupertLowe10
@RupertLowe10 describes Dunblane to Joe Rogan in his podcast as “a murder up in Dunblane.”
Joe Rogan replies, “One murder?”
Lowe answers: “One murder.”
One murder?
Sixteen kids and their teacher were murdered. Fifteen other primary school children were wounded.
My children’s school, about fifteen minutes from Dunblane, was locked down that day. They’ll never forget being kept in the gym hall until everyone learned the gunman was dead. They’ll never forget the teachers trying to hold themselves together while reassuring frightened children.
To reduce that atrocity to “one murder” is deeply insulting.
It wasn’t a single murder. It was a mass murder. In a primary school.
Almost as disturbing was the tone – one of disbelief, even mockery, that anyone could respond by tightening gun laws. This wasn’t some obscure historical event. It happened in 1996, when Lowe was 38 years old. He should have known what happened on that terrifying day in Dunblane.
For anyone who remembers that day, hearing it dismissed so casually is genuinely shocking.
