My husband has been bringing me flowers every Friday since the day we got married.
Yesterday, I found out why. For three years, I thought I had married the kindest man alive. He remembered the smallest things about me, warmed my side of the bed when I was cold, and kissed my forehead every morning before leaving for work.
Even when we fought, he never went to sleep without touching me somehow. A hand on my waist. His fingers intertwined with mine. Sometimes, when he thought I was asleep, he would pull me closer and hold me like a man afraid of losing something.
I used to think it was love. Then last Friday, he came home with white roses instead of the red ones he always bought. I laughed and asked if he was trying to tell me something.
He went completely still. That night, I woke up around 2 a.m. and realized he wasn't beside me. I found him in the living room, sitting in the dark with his phone pressed to his ear.
I was about to call his name when I heard him whisper something that made my blood run cold. “I know. She still thinks I'm doing this because I love her.”
A pause. Then he said, “I'll tell her after Friday. I just need one more week.” I stood behind the wall, unable to move. Three years of marriage. Three years of believing I knew this man better than anyone on earth.
And suddenly, I couldn't even recognize his voice.

Her mother’s name appeared on her phone in the middle of one of the worst days she’d had in weeks.
She stared at the screen, debating whether to answer.
She loved her mother, but lately, every conversation seemed to come with something else she needed to handle.
Hospital appointments, paperwork, bills, problems that needed fixing.
Somewhere along the way, she’d become the person everyone called when things went wrong.
She was tired of being that person. Tired of pretending she had everything under control when some days, she could barely get through her own to-do list.
But guilt got the better of her, and she answered on the fourth ring.
Her mother didn’t ask her to pick anything up or help with anything. She didn’t ask why she sounded so exhausted.
She simply said, “I made too much soup. You can come over if you want.”
“If you’re tired, stay home. I just thought you might like some.”
Her daughter leaned back in her office chair and closed her eyes.
It was such a small thing to say. Her mother probably didn’t even think twice about it.
But for the first time all day, someone had offered her something without making it another thing she had to do.

My girlfriend slapped me in front of her friends, and somehow, I ended up apologizing to her before the night was over.
We had been dating for two years, and Vanessa had a way of making me feel like the worst man alive whenever I disagreed with her.
If I went out without telling her, I was disrespectful.
If I told her where I was going but didn't send pictures, I was hiding something.
If I spent money on myself, I was selfish.
But if she spent half her salary on clothes and expected me to cover her bills afterward, I was supposed to understand because she was my woman.
The worst part was that I had gradually started believing her.

Last night, around 1:47 AM, I made a mistake I still wish I could undo. I was sending a private photo to my boyfriend when I accidentally sent it to my stepfather instead. Their names were right next to each other in my contacts, and I didn’t notice until the message was already delivered.
My heart dropped. I immediately sent an apology, explaining that the photo was meant for someone else.
A few minutes later, he replied:
“You should be more careful with your contacts.”
I stared at the message, feeling absolutely mortified. I didn’t know whether to say anything else, so I put my phone away and barely slept that night, dreading the next morning.
At breakfast, I walked into the kitchen and tried to act normal. He greeted me like he always did, which somehow made me even more uncomfortable. I poured myself some cereal and kept my eyes on the table.
After a few minutes, he said, “About that message last night… I understand it was an accident. Just double-check next time.”
I nodded and apologized again. He didn’t make a scene, and we moved on to another topic, but I could barely concentrate on eating. As soon as I finished, I took my bowl to the sink and went back to my room.
