Xavier Becerra has described himself as "a son of immigrants" and said repeatedly that his "parents came to America with $12 in their pocket." But his father was actually born in Sacramento and has always been an American citizen. The Democratic candidate for California Governor told the L.A. Times that “I am very proud of my parents, and I consider them immigrants because even though my dad was born in the U.S. — in a country that wouldn’t treat him the way it would treat other U.S. citizens — my dad was a proud immigrant...I am proud that I am their son. I am the son of immigrants.” @GovernorDavis & @murphymike discuss the nuance of this issue in this clip from @CNNTheStoryIs. I first learned of this issue via an X post from @anthonycabassa.

ABC has been awarded a $2.8 million grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS), through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), to reduce underage drinking and protect communities across California. The grant funding will also support 22 local law enforcement agencies with up to $30,000 each to combat alcohol-related harm within their communities through ABC education and enforcement programs. This includes programs that directly benefit Californians, such as Minor Decoy and Shoulder Tap operations, the Know Your Limit program, fake identification enforcement, compliance checks, and more. ABC is grateful for its ongoing partnership and strong support from OTS and NHTSA. @OTS_CA @NHTSAgov
