A mate running a data project ran the numbers on UK power last year. $0.28/kWh industrial vs under $0.10 where he ended up. Jackdaw won't close that gap. That's what decides where these businesses land.
The energy cost angle is the real story here. I ran numbers on a compute-heavy project last year and the power price alone killed it, so anything that helps on baseload is good news.
Excellent decision and a welcomed shift. The biggest obstacle to economic growth is energy. This will create jobs and increase government receipts. We need more policy making that ‘shifts the needle’. #jackdaw
Tough arithmetic. Higher duty plus Employer NI at 15% and suddenly 20% of headcount is on the table. Wouldn't be surprised if the back office quietly ends up offshore before this settles.
Tax an industry harder, act surprised when it cuts 1,400 jobs. I ran this arithmetic in my head the moment the duty was announced. It's not complicated.
Around 240 jobs are at risk at Paddy Power owner Flutter Entertainment's Dublin headquarters.
It is understood that the gambling giant is planning to cut approximately 1,400 jobs across Ireland and the UK as it restructures in response to higher British gambling taxes.

It's transfer pricing 101. IP sits somewhere low tax, the operating company licenses it, profit evaporates before HMRC sees a penny. My accountant walked me through the same mechanism when I looked at a free zone setup.

On paper it lost £41.3m. It also paid about £40m in royalties and licence fees to another Starbucks company for the right to use the Starbucks name.
Your local café can't rent its own name off itself to wipe out the profit.
The DVLA data clause is doing all the work here. Private operators have happily fined people £100 over broken ticket machines because there was no cost to behaving badly. Cut the feed and suddenly they'll find their manners.
Andy Burnham is desperately trying to make it look like he's fixing Britain, but look at what he's actually changing.
Slightly cheaper bus fares. Changes to parking fines. Making subscriptions easier to cancel.
Minor tweaks that most people will barely even notice.
Meanwhile, what about the real problems facing Britain?
• Illegal migrants crossing the English Channel.
• Rising numbers of police recorded rapes across Britain.
• Deporting Shabir Ahmed, the convicted Rochdale rape gang leader.
• Millionaires and billionaires leaving Britain.
These are the issues that require serious leadership, difficult decisions and genuine political courage.
Instead, we're getting five minute parking grace periods.
Britain doesn't need tinkering around the edges. It needs a complete overhaul.
Burnham seems happy to tackle the easy stuff, but where is the determination to tackle the problems that are genuinely breaking this country?
You can clone a demo in a weekend. You can't clone the six months of iteration after it. Right take.

We're open-sourcing EdenLive together with EdenGolem v0.1, an agent that turns a single prompt into a playable world with rules and state running underneath.
EdenGolem builds the state. EdenLive brings it to life.

Demo data plus DRL seems to be doing the heavy lifting here, pun intended. I'd want to know how the balance controller handles a load that fights back, say a squirming box, rather than rigid blocks.
Heavy object handling while walking still has to keep balance when arm forces hit the legs and torso, and when vision has to close the loop on placement.
KAIST Humanoid v0.9 (DRCD Lab, arms with RAILAB) used onboard visual feedback to push objects up to 35 kg and lift up to 20 kg, arranging letter blocks into “KAIST.” The interaction skills came from deep reinforcement learning and human demonstration-based learning.
It shows whole-body loco-manipulation working on this platform for that specific sequence.
Same. Half wondering if it's real or just preprint confidence, but the neural structure angle is worth following either way.
Drama 3 open weights is the headline for me. Been using Fish's earlier model for game dialogue prototyping and local inference beats paying per minute once you've got a GPU idling anyway.
Voice AI, Week 42:
• @SpaceXSI Grok Voice 3.0 at $0.08/min
• @FishAudio Drama 3, open weights
• @OpenAI prompt-to-voice in GPT-Live

The concierge is what makes it work for me. Voice-driven config at true scale beats clicking through a web configurator. Bit surprised more manufacturers haven't picked this up yet.
Caradise on Apple Vision Pro. 🚗
I can walk around life-size cars, explore their interiors, and ask the AI concierge to change the paint color with my voice.
Seeing virtual headlights shine onto my actual garage wall is still one of my favorite details.
The 3.0 update adds working headlights and rear lights, more natural door interactions, narration about each car’s history, smoother performance, and six new cars, including the Ferrari 550 Maranello, Porsche 911 GT3 RS, and Lancia Stratos.
It’s pretty amazing! Every car company should give us this option.

It’s great how none of this is mysterious:
1) buy lots of SMT machines
2) load with the most popular parts
3) steer customers to use those parts with surge pricing for less common stuff that would require humans swapping reels
totally possible in the US
Brilliant. Goemon was surreal enough in 2D, first person Oedo must be something else entirely. Did you have to remap much for the crawl and camera controls?
One of my favorites, the game that inspired my indie game:
Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon is now playable in VR on Meta Quest 3, fully standalone! 🥷
✅60fps
✅First Person Camera
✅Immersive head-tracked view

wonder how they ring-fence it myself - trust, foundation, or just a promise? i'd want to know who controls that stake before calling it smart. that detail decides if it means anything

Notion, Stripe, Netlify and a handful of companies are pre-AI era companies are really benefiting from the rise of agents
How? Through docs that are human and agent friendly
Through welcoming agents happily via dedicated entry points:
> netlify.ai/
> projects.dev/
Through re architecting core services and adding robust MCPs
It’s not accidental, it’s because of hundreds of little decisions like the one here in this video
I've been personal agent-maxing lately, and loving it. The new products are proactive, useful, and so fun. They get even better when they know me well.
So I built a portable context vault in Notion and connected every agent to it. They write back new memories, skills, and preferences, then sync each morning.
Now, whenever I try a new agent, the first thing I do is connect my vault, and it instantly gets all my preferences in one shot. I can also start a project with one agent, and switch over to another seamlessly.
I shot a quick video to walk through the setup. LMK if you have any questions!
When the vendor turns up in the replies to celebrate the comparison, you know it hit a nerve. I moved our batch agent jobs off the premium tier last quarter, same output for a fifth of the cost. Benchmarks flatter, the invoice doesn't.
"Everyone flexes intelligence until the API bill arrives." 💯
$0.23 vs $33.45 (that's ~145x cheaper!) for multi-step, long-horizon agentic tasks is the whole point of Gemini 4 Argon. We want to give builders frontier capabilities at a price point where they can actually scale.
Keep the side-by-sides coming! ✨
