A friend was asked to write a recommendation for his daughter who is applying to Yale. Worth a read. Dear , I am unwilling to write a letter of recommendation in support of your daughter's application to Yale. I no longer do that. It is not that I don't believe that she is qualified, on the contrary it is because I do. You wouldn't ask me to write a letter of recommendation for her admission to Hamas. But Yale is no different than Hamas, a cult that abides no disagreement, and a cult certain of its purpose and mission beyond reflection. Yale is potentially even more dangerous. Hamas will be defeated shortly. Yale will continue to send its graduates into positions of power for years. A recent study at Harvard found that roughly 50% of the students and professors wouldn't discuss "uncomfortable" topics. An essential life skill is the ability to change your mind. She won't learn that at any Ivy league school. Their reputations are still so strong that their faculty, staff and graduates all possess the arrogant certainty of religious fanatics. I am sorry to disappoint you. I wish her the best in her search for a school, Signed xxxxxxxxxx

Imagine being so proud of writing a shitty smear piece that you decide to also publish it in english.
Is Greta Thunberg anti-Semitic, or just incredibly naive? Her comments in Amsterdam last weekend left little doubt as to where she stands on the Middle East conflict. The iconic activist's actions now threaten to divide the climate movement and the left. spiegel.de/international/wor…

My dear father, #DanielEllsberg, died this morning June 16 at 1:24 a.m., four months after his diagnosis with pancreatic cancer. His family surrounded him as he took his last breath. He had no pain and died peacefully at home. commondreams.org/opinion/dan…

Fact checker gets his facts checked
Twitter trolls who posted a "community note" to this tweet apparently have not read the actual fact check. Click the link and you will find that Color of Change did not spend $1 million in independent expenditures on Bragg, as people often claim.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
The original Community Note does not say that the Color of Change PAC spent the $1 million it originally pledged. Soros donated $1 million to the PAC days after it endorsed Bragg and pledged more than $1 million in spending to support his candidacy. cnbc.com/amp/2023/03/22…

i wonder how many tech companies are run that badly
The stuff uncovered in the Twitter whistleblower report is much crazier than anything in the "Twitter files" but it's much less politically/tribally salient so it got no attention. Going to do a thread on some of the craziest things, in no particular order.
Sieh mal @quasseltier was du angerichtet hast. Vertreibst hier noch alle.

you should be in jail, not giving talks
I’ll be speaking with @andrewrsorkin at the @dealbook summit next Wednesday (11/30).
Murica can't have too much freedom, can they?
Now we know why Z-library was shut down. It was a massive Russian-operated scheme to pirate books and publish them for free thereby diminishing the value of authors’ works and the overall US book market.
