Between August 5-6, 1763, British forces led by Col. Henry Bouquet defeated a combined force of a confederation of Native American tribes in the Battle of Bushy Run during Pontiac’s War. The British victory relieved Fort Pitt from the siege that it had been facing during the war. Today, the location of the battle is the site of the Bushy Run Battlefield Park. #Share your thoughts on these photos, preserved in the State Archives, from the 2005 reenactment of the battle. - bit.ly/4w71tGU #OnThisDay

FOUNDATIONS OF AMERICA — PONTIAC'S REBELLION Pontiac's Rebellion — or Pontiac's War — was an uprising of Native American Indian tribes against British forts in the Ohio Country and Great Lakes region after the French and Indian War. The war led to the Proclamation of 1763 and the establishment of a standing army in the American Colonies, two causes of the American Revolution. Image: Chief Pontiac by John Mix Stanley.
