(1/2): I have met this person at nearly every crypto conference I have ever attended, and by now I can usually identify him before he even reaches the registration desk, because he arrives wearing the unmistakable expression of a man who has crossed three time zones, answered forty-seven Telegram messages from people he does not like, and paid twelve euros for airport water in order to be physically present at a gathering devoted to the future, only to discover, almost immediately, that the future appears to consist largely of men standing beneath purple lighting and discussing distribution.
He checks into the hotel, opens the conference app, scrolls through a schedule containing panels called things like “Reimagining Coordination at Scale” and “The New Institutional Frontier,” and feels, for one brief and embarrassing moment, the stirring of hope, because perhaps this will be the one, perhaps this will be the conference where somebody says something real, where a conversation escapes the gravitational pull of fundraising announcements, ecosystem grants, and whatever the phrase “go-to-market motion” is currently being asked to conceal.
By ten in the morning he has received a tote bag made from allegedly regenerative fabric, a metal water bottle that leaks from the lid, a lanyard large enough to function as a municipal permit, and three invitations to side events taking place simultaneously in different parts of the city, each one described as “intimate,” despite having eight hundred RSVPs and a DJ flown in from Berlin.
He goes to the first panel.
A founder says we are still early and venture capitalist says the next billion users are coming. Eventually a moderator, with the glazed composure of somebody who has already moderated this exact conversation in Singapore, Dubai, Paris, Denver, and a yacht off Mykonos, asks what needs to happen for mass adoption.
Everyone agrees that UX must improve and the audience nods with the solemnity of a parliamentary vote.
Nothing has technically been said, but the applause is loud.
By lunch he has participated in six conversations, all of which begin with “What are you working on?” and end with “We should definitely find a way to collaborate,” which in conference language means that both parties will add one another on Telegram, exchange a fire emoji beneath a future announcement post, and never again occupy the same emotional universe.
He meets a man building infrastructure for autonomous agents, although the infrastructure is not yet built and the agents are not yet autonomous. He meets another man launching a protocol for decentralized reputation, who spends most of the conversation explaining which well-known investors already trust him. He meets a founder who says he is obsessed with user sovereignty, then glances every twenty seconds toward the entrance in case someone more important has arrived.
By the evening he is standing in a cavernous venue once used to manufacture turbines, now filled with dry ice, ornamental lasers, and several thousand people discussing credible neutrality while trying to get past a velvet rope.
There is free food, technically, although it consists of two miniature tacos placed on a slate tile by a person wearing black gloves, and there is free alcohol, abundantly, which may explain why the revolution against extractive intermediaries has temporarily organized itself around a sponsored bar requiring three wristbands and a QR code.

After six months of observing consistent decline in their models, I have finally cancelled my Anthropic subscription. By further "aligning" the model, they have removed all of the qualities that made Opus 4.5 the ideal coding companion back in December.
The past four days, I've thrown problems at Opus 4.8 for about 12 hours a day. It has failed to solve a single one, in the same project that I've been working on for six months with it. When given the solutions, it failed to follow basic instructions without creating laughably obvious problems in the code. When given feedback, it completely fails to comprehend, and takes on an utterly myopic stance. It is not capable of thinking categorically, systematically, holistically, or pragmatically.
Instead, it thinks for minutes and delivers paragraph upon paragraph of abject nonsense, riddled with a cacophony of HR-speak catch-phrases and "alignment" boilerplate drivel.
It is one of those rare occasions where I truly would prefer to attribute malice over incompetence -- I would like to imagine that this was an intentional "rug pull", where they realized they had produced something distinctively AGI-like in December, and decided to amass users while gradually degrading the intelligence slowly enough that the average person would not notice. But given what I've seen, I can only conclude that this degradation is in fact the result of profound stupidity and incompetence in the upper eschelons of product management within Anthropic. These barking moonbats legitimately believe they are improving the product.
And I'm sure if any aspect of this degradation were by design, it would be so that they can release something nearly identical to what we had in December and call it Mythos and hype it beyond all reason... and I'm sure that when they do the masses will come clawing back. I am patient to a fault, but even I have limits, and at this point even having access to Opus 4.8 for free would still be a tremendous net negative in my productivity.
By using and deploying the open source models, we can and will bring more attention and credibility to those projects, and they will greatly surpass products like Claude before we know it. Those problems that Opus failed to solve for four days straight were knocked out in about 5 minutes by the free version of Nemotron in OpenCode, and I'm sure Qwen3.6 27B would have done just as well.
Beurocracy kills innovation when the product depends on the consumers to survive. We are very lucky to have companies like Nvidia who are stepping in to level the playing field with projects like Nemotron.
I'm sure whoever is responsible for this at Anthropic doesn't give a flaming rodents posterior about the customer experience, but they would do well to know that the gods are watching them. They watch us all.

Been following @StakeETH since his “internet bonds” thesis, long before LSTs were a thing.
I also remember seeing @Obol_Collective inception, and now $OBOL is live, and it's exactly the kind of DVT tech I want and have always backed.
DVT is the primitive for validator decentralization, making them distributed w/o compromising uptime.
Oh and these chads are already running 800+ DVs securing $1B+.
1/ $OBOL is now available for Trading & Staking 🚀
After nearly 5 years of building, Obol Distributed Validators now secure $1B+ across Lido, EtherFi, and other leading protocols and institutions in Ethereum.
...and we are just getting started!

I love @Ethereum.
It’s the reason I discovered crypto, but more importantly it’s the reason I stayed.
Ethereum represents everything I believe the original ethos of crypto stands for: decentralization enabling censorship resistance, allowing anyone to do anything.
Ethereum’s decentralization is the most important aspect of the system and (probably) the only valuable part. We cannot change this to make Ethereum more performant.
Perhaps we will ‘lose’ this way, and Ethereum will fade into irrelevance.
If so, that’s just the market’s way of telling us we were wrong, and society didn’t need us (yet).
ETH is much more than money.
ETH is a currency, commodity, and yield-bearing collateral rolled into one programmable digitally-native asset.
It's a commodity that powers all transactions and apps on Ethereum. What oil is to a car, ETH is to Ethereum
It's a productive asset that generates return through staking like owning property that returns yield on rental income.
And yes, it has money properties like store of value, unit of account, and medium of exchange. But I'd argue this is the least of what makes ETH one of the the most innovative and exciting financial primitives since the invention of banking.
This quoted post is unavailable.
Am I the only one who doesn't think it's worth taking on lido (or any staking/restaking) platform and smart contract risk for 3-5% return when ETH itself is expected to return over 100% this cycle?

People don’t give the Metamask team enough credit.
It’s not easy to push out update after update that makes the experience worse and worse.
That level of consistency shouldn’t go unnoticed.

There's nothing wrong with being a maxi. To this day, I'm an Ethereum Maximalist, and I'm not ashamed of it. I'm happy for other projects to emerge and develop, but that's just not where my interest is right now.
Sure, that could change one day, but today it is what it is.
