Lorena started as a trainee. Today, she leads our labour division and mentors others.
A powerful reminder that second chances matter. Thank you, Lorena, for everything you do 💙💛
🛠️ Welcome to the team, Richard Wilson!
With 20+ years in construction, Richard joins Building Up as a Working Supervisor, working alongside our trainees to build hands-on skills, confidence & experience for their next step in the trades. 💪
Welcome aboard, Richard! 🎉
Meet Obi Dike, Director of Career Management & Employer Partnership! 👋
“What keeps me here? The people. Our trainees, alumni, and incredible team.”
For Obi, leadership means creating opportunities, removing barriers, and helping people reach their potential. 💙

🔧 Our trainees recently visited Boilermakers Local 128 for a firsthand look at the trade and apprenticeship pathway!
A big thank you to Tom MacNeil, Eddie Wall & Dave Maddison for welcoming our group and sharing your knowledge with the next generation. 👷

From uncertainty to a career in the trades.
Before Building Up, Antoine wasn’t sure what came next. Today, he’s a first-term General Carpenter Apprentice with @carpenters27 , earning $25/hour and building a future filled with opportunity.
We’re so proud of how far he’s come.💙
Wisdom joined Building Up with a passion for construction, but unsure where it would take him. Through hands-on experience, he found confidence, new skills and a path forward.
Now, he’s continuing his journey with us as a Facilities, Maintenance & Support Trainee. 💙
Looking back, building forward. 🦺✨
Our Alumni had an amazing time at the @TCBN_TO NextGen Retreat, connecting with skilled trades professionals and exploring mentorship, professional branding & what’s next in their careers.
Proud to see our Alumni shine! 💙
🚧 Employer Myth vs. Reality
❌ MYTH: New workers don’t know what’s expected on site.
✅ REALITY: Building Up trainees learn the workplace habits that matter: safety, communication, reliability, asking questions and applying feedback.

🎓 Congrats, Cohort 73! After 8 weeks in class, you’re heading on-site! 🛠️
Through a new Training Centre, new challenges & plenty of change, you showed resilience and flexibility every step of the way.
Look how far you’ve come. And you’re just getting started. 💛
Building futures while improving homes. 🏠🔧 Through our partnership with @CHamilton26333 , Building Up trainees are conducting unit audits to identify repairs before getting to work. Real-world experience, stronger communities, and safer homes, one unit at a time. #BuildingUp
Meet Cyera, one of the amazing people behind Building Up. 💙 "My passion for helping others reach their goals, seeing them grow and succeed, and knowing I was able to help them with that is what keeps me here." Thank you for all you do! #BuildingUpTO
MYTH: Hiring someone new to construction is too much of a risk.
REALITY: Every skilled tradesperson started somewhere. Building Up connects employers with motivated, job-ready candidates. Looking to hire? Contact Aliza: [email protected] #SkilledTrades #Construction
Construction contracts can build more than buildings. 🏗️ Through #SocialProcurement, every project can create paid training, hands-on experience and pathways into the skilled trades. Better buildings. Stronger communities. That's the power of social procurement. #BuildingUp
Once Building Up, always Building Up. 📷
This July, we welcomed alumni back for our annual Alumni Picnic. An afternoon filled with laughter, great food, soccer, and meaningful conversations.
Thank you to everyone who joined us and made this year's picnic so special!
Big upgrade for our Insulation Team! 🚛
Our new Canadian-made insulation blowing machine is officially on the road, helping us complete attic insulation projects more efficiently while maintaining the high-quality workmanship our clients expect.
Employer Myth vs. Reality #1 👷🏽♂️
Myth: Hiring entry-level workers means starting from zero.
Reality: Building Up graduates complete 16 weeks of hands-on training in safety, tools, teamwork, and jobsite expectations before connecting with employers. Ready to learn. Ready to work.
Mohamed turned determination into a career. 💪 Through Building Up, he gained hands-on experience, learned from experienced journeymen, and built the confidence to become an Industrial Mechanical Millwright. We're proud of everything he's accomplished and what's still to come! 👏
