🗞️ #FORTIFIED News: A new @ALInsuranceCtr study, commissioned by the @AlabamaDOI, analyzed more than 40,000 properties impacted by #HurricaneSally, signifying the effectiveness of FORTIFIED.
The study found that:
🏠 #FORTIFIED homes were more than 70% less likely to have an insurance claim than a typically built home.
💲 If every impacted home had been built to the FORTIFIED Roof standard, the total damage would have been reduced by more than $140 million.
👷 FORTIFIED homes also significantly outperformed homes built to municipal building codes with identical requirements, but without FORTIFIED’s documentation and evaluation requirements, emphasizing the importance of third-party verification.

It's #HurricanePreparednessWeek! Now's the time for #homeowners - coastal and inland alike - to take steps to prepare their properties before #hurricane season.
A few steps to get started:
🍂 Clean all gutters, downspouts, and drains so they are free of tree debris.
🏠 Have your roof inspected by a trusted and licensed #roofing company for signs of aging.
💧 Look for gaps and cracks in your home’s exterior that could lead to water entry and seal them with a tube of silicone caulk.
🌳 Keep all tree limbs trimmed and away from your house.

#ICYMI: Last month, @KBHome unveiled the nation’s first Wildfire Prepared Neighborhood, Dixon Trail.
🏘️ Dixon Trail is the first applied use of the researched-based, neighborhood-level mitigation strategies of structure separation, fire pathway reduction and wildfire-resilient building materials following IBHS’s new standard.
📃 Once the community is complete and has passed an IBHS evaluation, a final Wildfire Prepared Neighborhood designation will be issued.
