Today, we have started a new chapter for Bristol's libraries. We have consigned Labour's shocking contempt for our libraries to history, and have set in place a strategy to ensure a bright and secure future for every library in our city.

I’m sorry to read that Richard Tice’s commute to Parliament from Dubai is proving so difficult.
British Airways is an embarrassing disgrace of an airline @British_Airways
Routinely selling many more tickets than seats, putting lots of passengers on standby who bought tickets months ago, a woeful customer attitude of ‘shrug shrug, not my job’ 🤷♂️
Then not sending the luggage of standby passengers: one case may arrive on next flight an hour later, 1 case shrug shrug wait until tomorrow afternoon when it may or may not arrive 🤷♂️
Britain is Broken
Local residents, John and Gill have installed a rainbow bench by St Cuthbert’s Church on Sandy Park Road. The bench is dedicated to their daughter, Hellen, who died in 2024.
The builder installed the bench today, Mon 19th Oct, on the second anniversary of Hellen’s passing.

The PM has announced the plan to scrap first past the post. Of course we’ve been here before.
Don’t let the Labour gov’t backtrack again.
Seats that match votes would change British politics for good, but only if it happens. Sign the petition. 🖊️

We managed to get this prioritised. 💪
Great to see the zebra crossing on Sandy Park Road getting a much-needed repaint. We’ve been pestering the council for months so we are pleased this is finally happening. #working4you

Today the PM said, “We will contest the next election with a manifesto commitment to change the electoral system, so that everyone's vote counts and everyone's voice is heard”
Blair made the same promise only to drop it after his landslide in ‘97. Can we trust Labour this time?

Welcome to Mark Pack’s vlog, sponsored by nobody.
The Lib Dems have tabled an amendment to ban politicians being paid by social media firms for their posts, because the angrier the post, the bigger the payout. Politicians shouldn’t be paid to stir up anger.

🌺 Every year, we get together with local residents to tidy and decorate our Brislington war memorial on Bath Road in preparation for Armistice Day on 11 November. If you would like to help, we are meeting at 10am on Friday 23 October.
Great news! The lane connecting Kenneth Road and Callington Road has finally reopened after many, many months of closure while nearby construction work took place. However, it’s all rather overgrown so we have asked the council to tidy it up.

And now we learn the Conservative party is reportedly massaging its membership figures as they drop below six figures...
...as Tim Shipman in the Spectator says "A previously impeccable source inside Conservative campaign HQ says that the party membership has dropped below 100,000 for the first time in as long as anyone can remember. Badenoch’s team deny this but won’t comment. However, the insider says attempts to artificially inflate the number by not striking off people who haven’t paid their subs, or whose card details have changed, have failed to keep the numbers in six figures"

Conservative Party still polling below 2024 election result and "what was your worst ever performance” says Sir John Curtice at Tory party conference.
Neatly summarising the only thing anyone needs to know about the Conservatives right now.

🏴 Last year, I stood up in Parliament and challenged the weaponisation of our St. George’s flag.
The next day, a man spewing far-right abuse came to physically attack my office and has returned multiple times to intimidate, abuse and cause damage. He has since been convicted.
The fight the Liberal Democrats 𝗺𝘂𝘀𝘁 be focused on is our fight against this kind of hate and division that affects so many, fuelled by far-right populists across our country.
𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 is the fight that matters.
Ed Davey has been leading us in that liberal fight, and I absolutely back him in doing so.
