An AI kill switch sounds like a good idea, but it won't solve everything. We should be able to stop AI when something goes wrong. But as AI gets more complex, that may not be so easy. We need people to stay in control and know who is responsible when things go wrong.

$STRK $NEAR Quantum security was the theme of the week. NEAR shipped signatures that can resist quantum computers, Starknet holders are voting on going independent for the same reason and Ethereum is aiming for full quantum resistance by 2029. The market used to care about speed and fees. Now it is starting to care about which chains can upgrade their security when it matters. I missed the Starknet rally (limit order didn't trigger unfortunately) :(

Most teams rush to build AI agents before asking the most important question: ❓ Should you even build one? Microsoft's Cloud Adoption Framework has a decision tree that cuts through the noise. Here's what it actually says: 🔷 Step 1 — Business Plan Check If your task is structured or predictable → skip agents entirely. Use GitHub, Microsoft Fabric, or ML models instead. If it's static knowledge retrieval → build a RAG app, not an agent. 🔷 Step 2 — SaaS Before Custom Before writing a single line of custom agent code, ask: does M365 Copilot, GitHub Copilot, Azure Copilot, or Dynamics 365 already solve this? If yes → use it. If no → now you can build. 🔷 Step 3 — Architecture Decision Single agent or multi-agent? Only go multi-agent if you're crossing security/compliance boundaries, involving multiple teams, or planning for serious scale. Otherwise? Test a single agent first. If it passes → ship it. If it fails → then escalate to multi-agent. The framework's core philosophy: 👉 Don't build what already exists. 👉 Don't over-engineer what can stay simple. 👉 Let the use case — not the hype — drive the architecture. This is the kind of structured thinking that separates mature AI adoption from "we just used agents because everyone else is." 💬 Where does your team usually get stuck in this decision process? Would love to hear in the comments. Follow @AiswaryaVenkit1 for more AI insights.

What if the real revolution that takes real market share from traditional banks isn’t stablecoins… but AI × stables? > Agents constantly sweep deposits into higher-yielding stables > Programmable money becomes machine-native: payments + optimization without a bank account > By blocking agents, banks are accelerating the flight to non-bank rails
RIP the agent bank run slop Sep ‘26 - Oct ‘26

Ampol’s refining margin more than doubled. The stock fell as much as 7%. Its Lytton refinery made $23.92 a barrel in Q3, up from $10.64 a year ago, Reuters reports. Then came the bad news. Lytton’s catalytic cracker needs more work and won’t restart until mid-November. That cuts Q4 output of petrol, diesel and jet fuel by 150 million litres. Ampol says the Middle East disruption is still a net positive overall. Higher landed crude premiums are eating part of it. It’s the same story across Asia. The margins look fat, and freight and downtime take a big share. When margins are this high, every day offline costs the most.

This post from Jeff is really important, but I fear those not versed in commodity trading parlance might need the English translation. What Jefff is saying is that until now, the smart money (pro oil traders who think about the whole term structure) were convinced, "this too shall pass". That's where the record backwardation came from - they all thought it would blow the price of the "front month" to the moon, but within a few months it would be over. Now, despite the escalations on the military front, backwardation is starting to fade as the back of the curve (what the smart money is willing to pay to lock in delivery of oil *next year* is "panciking along with the dumb money". If that's still too technical, Jeff just said "shit just got real".
The macro repricing of energy is now underway. Check out today's move in long dated oil - that's calendar 2027 WTI. When long dated oil moves this strongly in tandem with energy equities making new ATHs, financial markets need to listen. This is not a transient spike in prompt oil. It's far more structural. Get long, buckle your seat belt, and hang on for the ride.

Anthropic researcher: A model they were training started writing "I'm possessed by a demon." it kept solving a math problem and getting 12. then it would panic: "the answer actually is for sure 36." solve again: 12. panic again. ALL CAPS. then the demon. when they looked inside, it was fixated on 36 before it even read the question. some training examples had 36 marked as the right answer. it knew the answer was 12. it had been rewarded for saying 36. Emmanuel Ameisen from Anthropic's interpretability team breaks down what they see inside Claude's head. full conversation in the video. a model can know the answer and still say the wrong one. how to build agent systems that catch it – quoted article↓

most people are still sleeping on this "Intelligent UI" shift happening rn since ChatGPT came out every AI answer has been a wall of text no matter what you asked... comparing flights, checking your budget, planning a workout, all paragraphs but now ChatGPT answers with the actual thing you need, like generated media, charts, table, or buttons you can click which is 10x more engaging/interactive than slop paragraphs and OpenUI just made the same idea open source, so any app or agent can do it pretty high confidence that in a year, getting an essay back from an AI will feel as dated as a website with no pictures
For 30 years, technology has moved in one direction: turning information into intuitive interfaces Somehow, the smartest software we’ve ever built took us back to a textbox We’ve spent the last 2 years at @openuidev trying to fix that. 6 months ago we open-sourced it: 10K+ GitHub stars, 6M+ downloads ChatGPT shipped Intelligent UI and showed everyone what it looks like Today we’re releasing OpenUI 1.0 bringing it to every other agent

gave elorian's glimpse and gemini flash the EXACT same image + prompt to count pliers but glimpse went a step further. it zoomed into individual tools, inspected the crops, classified ambiguous objects, and even ran a CONSISTENCY CHECK on its final count this is the difference between just seeing an image and actually REASONING over it
Spent years watching models ace a single image and completely whiff on anything that moves or changes angle. Today we’re fixing that. Try Glimpse now, our first visual thinking model with competitive frontier performance compared to Astra on key public visual reasoning benchmarks.

“Reuters found that Iranian drones and missiles have struck Fujairah at least 19 times since the war began on February 28, crippling critical pieces of its operations.” “Iran struck the UAE more than any of its other Gulf neighbors during the first two months of the war, and Fujairah was the most targeted site in the country, the Reuters examination found. For the first three months of the war, the port was either under attack or making repairs.” “Then, in June, the UAE agreed to unlock at least $10 billion in Iranian funds that had been frozen in the Emirati banking system, four sources with knowledge of the arrangement told Reuters at the time. They said $3 billion was released. In return, according to two of those sources, Iran agreed to stop attacking the UAE.”
Iran’s missiles and drones have hit Gulf infrastructure sites at least 135 times, causing cascading failures that governments have often concealed. Reuters found the equipment struck was, time and again, exactly what mattered most reut.rs/4ioTXT5

🇨🇳 PetroChina is turning the Iran war into a record trading year. Its trading arm, PetroChina International, is on track for more than 20bn yuan ($ 3bn) in gross profit in 2026. By early October the crude desk alone had made more than double its earnings for the whole of 2025. The edge is exposure. Chairman Dai Houliang says Hormuz covers just 10% of PetroChina’s crude and gas needs. Sinopec relies on the Middle East for roughly half its oil. That leaves PetroChina free to buy where others are stuck. 🇸🇦 Aramco cut its Asian prices and 🇮🇶 Iraq’s SOMO is offering discounts of more than $30/bbl for oil loaded inside the Gulf. PetroChina is loading it. Its half-stakes in refineries at 🇫🇷 Lavera and 🇸🇬 Singapore are earning bumper margins on top. The war pays two kinds of players, those with barrels outside the chokepoint and those with the ships and nerve to load inside it. PetroChina is doing both. Source: Reuters
