There's a reason @AontroimGAA's Gerard Walsh will be Ireland's most experienced player in Saturday's Hurling-Shinty International. His toughness, striking, and swashbuckling ability to play first-time hurling make him a natural in the game. #GAABelong gaa.ie/article/gerard-walsh-…

This is sickening and antisemitic. An Iranian politician at his office filming himself tearing up a copy of the Jewish Torah book as he laughs. No wait, it's Michael Ben-Ari, an Israeli politician tearing up a bible for fun.

NEWS RELEASE Friday 16 October 2026 BBC Irish Language Unit ‘decimated’ as 60% of Irish language staff to lose jobs Conradh na Gaeilge has reacted to news that BBC will be cutting 60 % of the full-time roles within the BBC Irish Language team. It is understood staff were informed of the cuts on Thursday (15th October 2026) via a Microsoft Teams presentation. Conradh na Gaeilge has called the cuts entirely “disproportionate” in comparison to other units, teams and departments within the BBC, identifying the "devastating impact” they will have on the BBC live Irish language programmes. The cuts will most likely mean live (and award-winning) BBC Radio Ulster Irish language programmes such as Blas will come to an end. President of Conradh na Gaeilge, Ciarán Mac Giolla Bhéin, commented: “We understand that of the 5 full-time jobs in the BBC’s Irish Language team, 3 of those are being cut. That is a 60% cut to the Irish language workforce. At a time where the Irish language is going through phenomenal growth across society, between Irish Medium Education, adult classes, families using Irish in the home, it is difficult to comprehend any logic or rationale to cut 60% of the BBCs Irish language team whilst the Irish language audience is growing and expecting increased provision. Those levels of cuts, to what is an award-winning broadcast team within the BBC’s Irish Language Unit, will be devastating to the Irish language in broadcasting here in the north, and seem to be entirely disproportionate to the cuts taking place elsewhere within the BBC. We cannot imagine any other sector, team or unit is facing a 60% staffing cut.” “As things sat prior to these cuts, the Irish language was already the poor cousin in the context of BBC’s provision for our indigenous languages. In Wales, there are 2 bespoke Welsh language radio stations, BBC Radio Cymru and BBC Cymru 2, broadcasting around 200 combined hours per week, with an annual budget of £12.8m. In Scotland, BBC Radio nan Gàidheal broadcasts for at least 90 hours a week and has an annual budget of £3.7m. Here, there is no Irish language BBC station. None. We get around 30mins a day, or around 5 hours a week on BBC Radio Ulster. And now BBC are cutting 60% of the team providing that already limited service. Those who have made these cuts should be ashamed. The Irish language team’s expertise and experience should all be protected and indeed increased to allow them to address the growing needs of the Irish language community and those with an interest in the language here.” “The BBC, however, seems to be becoming an increasingly hostile space for the Irish language. They have no Irish language corporate policy. They have no dual-language signage on their premises. They have an embarrassingly small library of content for young people and families. They have no Irish language Radio station. And now they are disproportionately targeting Irish language jobs and reducing an already reduced team. BBCNI will only have 2 Irish language staff amongst their 650 workforce. Live Irish language output will be decimated as a result of these cuts.” “We would remind the BBC, and in particular the Department for Culture, Media and Sport, of their duties under the Good Friday Agreement, namely to take “resolute action to promote the Irish language” with bespoke reference to the relative British authorities regarding broadcasting. We believe these devastating cuts must be raised within the Executive, with the Secretary of State and directly with Culture, Media and Sport Minister Lisa Nandy MP, with the Irish Government, and ultimately with BBC Director Adam Smyth.”

This is all part of apartheid Israel's genocide of Palestinians in Gaza. Eternal shame on the so-called international community, including Ireland, for allowing this. #GazaGenocide
Winter is approaching Gaza, and the UN is warning that nearly one million displaced Palestinians face flooding risks, freezing temperatures, and continued Israeli attacks.

Great players never stop learning! They watch the best players, study other sports, and look for ideas that can transfer into Gaelic football. Sometimes the next big coaching insight comes from outside our own game. Observe. Learn. Adapt. Apply.

I watched a very heartfelt and plausible performance last night from @duponline about his “belief” that “rumours” he’d heard were true. Did you do anything @GRobinsonDUP about rumours about #JeffreyDonaldson - your predecessor - being a rapist and sexual predator?

Jeffrey Donaldson is up in court today to hear how long he will be jailed for sexually abusing two little girls. THAT should be the story today. No distractions from the DUP regarding ‘rumours’ and ‘I believe I heard’. He is one of their own.

We still don't know if prominent party members and those leading them on the streets now, knew about Jeffrey's abuse
Former DUP leader Jeffrey Donaldson will find out today how long he is to spend in prison after being found guilty in June of 18 counts of child sex abuse, including rape, I’ll be in Newry Crown Court for @BelTel and you can follow on the website for updates as it happens

Former party leader & terrorist being sentenced for child sex abuse, Prominent MP & terrorist investigated for domestic abuse, is it any wonder Robinson throws out "rumours" about guns and bombs on Garvaghy Rd & allow media run with it without any proof @StephenNolan insanity

After the occupation army destroyed and completely wiped out Gaza, it is now establishing its own settlements and military sites. Beneath these sands lie the bodies of thousands of women and children.

I’m assuming Gavin Robinson, Jon Burrows & Jim Allister will be asked by BBC broadcasters tomorrow to not simply condemn this but to call for a criminal investigation targeting all involved with swift follow up action. Time will tell….
"If you want to get out of here safe and sound, no filming." Those were the words I was met with while filming a protest in Derry’s Waterside this evening. I was told not to film because they said the protest was peaceful. When I asked whether they wanted to get their message out there, the response was "shut your mouth". I then approached one person who had been shouting at me and asked if I had done something wrong. I was told no, but then immediately told to "f**k off". There was also a warning that if they were "over in my end of the woods", it would be a different story - not sure what this means. I was told they did not want me there and that I had no right to stand in the street. I do not know who these people were, but they were standing, watching over the protest. Their message, however, was clear: journalists are not welcome. I will not be intimidated, threatened or deterred from carrying out my work. I stand firmly by the principle that the press must be free to report without fear, favour or intimidation. I will continue to do my job. I will not be silenced, and I will not be intimidated out of doing the work the public has a right to see. @NUJofficial
