More evidence of the relative resilience of the UK economy...
UK #PMI activity index for the #construction sector rose to 51.6 in May, from 51.1 in April, despite weakness of housebuilding
Striking contrast with the euro area, esp. Germany... 👇

Loving the Left argument that while the Tories are not actually like Hitler, Hitler didn't actually start like full Hitler either, so therefore stuff that isn't like Hitler should be deemed to be like Hitler because "that's how it starts". Perfect.

Lots of ERG members rushed to back the Windsor Framework before they'd even read it, much less understood it. They might one day realise, as with the original protocol they backed, that this aspect makes it far harder to ever achieve future GB divergence from many EU rules.

So even the pet restriction stays. Isn’t it kind of the EU to assure us that “ only simplified travel documents “ will be needed to bring your pet back to visit family in NI And this is what @10DowningStreet expects us to be grateful for

If this upsets you - or delights you - that is your politics
But this European analysis (that agrees with me) is unarguable
The UK is aligning, non-democratically, so as to make the EU run both Northern Ireland and the UK
It is now unarguable
THE FIRST PARAGRAPH!!
Bloody hell
Is this the EUs attitude to NI??

My analysis of whether the DUP's seven tests have been met by the Windsor Framework - surprisingly clear & straightforward when I went through them:
Test 1 ❌
Test 2❌
Test 3 ❌
Test 4 ✅
Test 5 ✅
Test 6 ❌
Test 7 ❌

No, our young people are the future for the UK.
Invest in them. Training, housing, childcare...
Classic short-termism and anti-Britishness from the Tories.
India is the future 🇮🇳
That's why we've opened a new route for young professionals from the UK and India to work in each other's countries.

'There are two takeaways from reading the deal. Firstly, that the EU were terrified of Boris Johnson’s Northern Ireland Protocol Bill. Secondly, that the EU is obsessed with stopping the UK from diverging from EU laws.'

My @Telegraph column with initial comment on the new NI Protocol deal. (Initial because there's still a lot of detail to work through.)
There are improvements, but it seems hugely oversold, & may entrench the Protocol framework rather than weaken it.

I have published my analysis of the proposed deal
It is not for me to endorse or condemn it. My role is to say what it does as law
As law, it empowers the EU to control a UK government of any kind and traps Northern Ireland outside the union

A couple of other observations: the @HTAnews says the GB-NI seed potato ban is not totally reversed. They will be able to be traded from grower to grower but direct to consumer and retail packs still excluded.

Not much has changed on state aid. There are no carve outs. There is a Joint Declaration which details & clarifies a common understanding of what subsidies are subject to the Protocol. An expert explains
The Windsor Framework does not make
far reaching changes to how State aid is treated in Northern Ireland.
It merely clarifies how the existing text of Article 10 applies.
It’s difficult to see how this satisfies anybody. #Brexit

Worth reading this about the spin versus reality. Accuracy matters. So the seed potato ban not totally reversed
