I’ll just say what I believe to be true about Jordan Peterson (good or bad) when it’s relevant, because at his best that’s what he would’ve encouraged those same young men to do, regardless of the subject matter.

Nietzsche saw in Heraclitus the philosopher who had liberated existence from the need for justification. The world builds and destroys in perpetual innocence, without moral bias, the way a child piles sand by the sea and begins again without regret.

Replying to @MohammadAtari90
Among pagan authors, prominent clusters centered on Fortitude, Justice, Severity, Loyalty, and Vice. Christian authors placed greater emphasis on Humility, Sanctity, and Asceticism. This was not just because they wrote about different people. 4/n

The Good News Is That One Side Has Definitively Won The Missing Heritability Debate, reports Scott Alexander @slatestarcodex. Actually, the real debate was won long ago: heritability of intelligence is substantially above 0. There can't be an exact "correct" estimate, because heritability is a proportion and it mathematically depends on variation in the sample. Also obvious (at leas to me): GWAS has to underestimate heritability compared to adoption & twin studies, since the latter estimate effects of the entire genome with all its interactions, & the former is capped by the number of measurable genes. (Still nice to see the gap closing.) astralcodexten.com/p/the-goo…

Mothers should not feel shame if they take Tylenol during pregnancy to relieve their severe pain. The largest systematic review ever conducted (that the administration cited!), found no association between prenatal Tylenol use and autism. Autism is highly heritable.

I will no longer be wasting my time on X. Elon Musk is a hypocrite of the highest order.
I believe I have confirmed with some certainty that I am shadowbanned. Looked at my account from an incognito window and my posts are hidden. Looked at other accounts and they are not. Elon Musk's X is a great champion of free speech guys.

If you see this, I'd appreciate a like or reply just so I can see who is seeing my content. A shadowban checking website is saying I am, in fact, shadowbanned.
I am actually considering the possibility that I'm shadowbanned on X. My posts, even those without links, get extremely low views compared to what they should get with 1.4k followers. Am I just really bad at poasting? I'd assume I'm just bad at posting if the view/engagement ratio was really bad. Instead, my posts just get no views. My last tweet had 200 views after 12 hours. ChatGPT says I'm not imagining things but IDK. Have I talked too much shit about Elon Musk?

The full video clearly shows that the man is looking at the judge, not his lawyer. youtu.be/bedcPcnh79g?si=XRD2…
Man starring at his own lawyer for losing his case and receiving a lifetime sentence..
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
It is flipped and cropped. The defendant is actually looking at the judge and doesn't even have eye contact with his lawyer when she is looking directly at him. youtube.com/watch?v=bedcPc…

I had chatGPT generate an image based on my recent substack article, described in the quoted post. For those who have read it, did chatGPT do good or did it do really good? The thing makes dumb mistakes sometimes, generates lots of bullshit, but when used properly can be an amazing tool.
New SS post --> The Strange Attractor at the Heart of Myth. It's also Chapter 1 of my upcoming book "The Return of the Great Mother". See the attached images for a summary of the similarities between the "meta-mythology" and strange attractors. Link in bio.

Whether you support him or not, President Trump’s systematic retaliation against law firms like Susman Godfrey for representing clients or causes he opposes is more than an attack on those firms — it’s an attack on the rule of law itself. Lawyers make easy targets. But as John Adams knew when he defended the British soldiers on trial for the Boston Massacre, securing our rights and freedoms depends on their efforts to uphold the rule of law and defend the unpopular. If you’re being prosecuted, suing the government for violating your rights, or challenging an unconstitutional law, you need a lawyer. And you shouldn’t have to worry about whether the government will retaliate against the attorneys who take your case. Worryingly, there doesn’t seem to be an end in sight to these executive actions that threaten to chill First Amendment-protected advocacy, undermine the right to counsel, and erode due process. President Trump announced that five more executive orders targeting law firms and their clients are forthcoming, even after courts blocked three earlier orders for likely violating the Constitution. The use of executive power to punish opponents is neither new nor confined to a single party, but we should always be alarmed by such unconstitutional overreach. Today’s tactics can just as easily be turned against the views or causes you support tomorrow. For nearly 250 years, America has been a nation of laws, not men. Our heritage of freedom and due process demands that legal processes remain accessible to those with grievances. Access to counsel is a critical part of that liberty.

Thomas Sowell denounces Trump’s tariffs. I had assumed Sowell was too old to still make public appearances. I like the idea that Trump’s policies are so stupid they shocked him back to life.

Thomas Sowell on Trump’s trade war: “Oh my gosh, an utter disaster. I happen to believe that the Smoot-Hawley tariffs had more to do with setting off the great depression of the '30s than the stock market crash. Unemployment never reached double digits in any of the 12 months that followed the crash of October 1929, but it hit double digits within six months of passage of Smoot-Hawley, and stayed there for a decade. . . . When you set off a trade war, like any other war, you have no idea how that's going to end. You're going to be blindsided by all kinds of consequences. You do not make America great again by raising the price to Americans, which is what a tariff does.”

I'm growing very concerned that Republicans are provoking a lawless backlash when Democrats take back power. Imagine if the shoe were on the other foot: A Democrat president could hire and promote government employees based on political loyalty. They could award government contracts to their constituency groups. They could condition science funding on signing a loyal oath to their political beliefs. They could pressure universities to enforce an ideological standard on its students and faculty. They could even weaponize federal agencies to censor opposing political opinions! What a horrifying precedent.
