Today may be October 3rd, but on Wednesdays, the @BrenhouseLab wears pink (while presenting @SfNtweets)! Stop by to hear the amazing recent work from our lab, and ask us why all of our posters had to go through a Mean Girls makeover this year!

New pub in @BiologicalPsyc1, collaboratively across trauma research labs @McLeanHospital, led by Nate Harnett. We review the relevance of visual processing in PTSD, esp the impact of stress on affective-visual circuitry.

Far from women’s health being a “niche” area -putting more effort into understanding the multifaceted area of women’s health will lead to exciting new discoveries that will benefit all, regardless of our gender.
New from @Nature: a maternal brain hormone that builds bone 🤯🦴
During #breastfeeding, bones are stripped of calcium - yet they don't break down.
A hormone discovered in lactating mice explains why not - and might someday help treat osteoporosis!🤓

Pups develop their ultrasonic vocalizations differently when raised with daily maternal separation--but is mom listening? We looked into it! Nice work @rekapalli_al @CaitlynCody2 onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/…
Unused drink tickets are the least sad part of leaving @SBNTweets early… Be sure to stop by poster #4 later to talk to @Angarika13 about CRH, early life stress, and accelerated puberty!

Anyone at @SBNTweets 2024 know if shuttles are still running to hotels? Just arrived and excited for this afternoon’s sessions!
Elena will continue to be a force of kindness, humor, and brilliance through the countless people that she touched while she was here. The shock of losing her is still very raw for all of us, but I know that in the largest sense, she hasn't gone anywhere
As @Wal_yas said below, I am sad to have lost my friend and colleague Elena Chartoff. She was a wonderful person and scientist who will be deeply missed.
If you'll be at the Stress meeting next week, come talk to Caitlyn about this work at her poster--fabulous work, @CaitlynCody2 !
🚨📣Out now as a preprint on @biorxivpreprint My first first author paper (❗️) in the @brenhouse lab shows pre- and post-synaptic effects of early life adversity resulting in age- and sex-specific behavioral outcomes 🐭🧠 biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/…
Hi Twitterverse! Have any postdoc/PI teams out there submitted an R03 together as MPI? Any advice and/or pushback?
📣New paper reporting accelerated hypothalamic expression of pubertal regulators following #earlylifestress ! Nice work @LaurenGranata and @mikeyfan7 ! authors.elsevier.com/a/1iRxN…
A strong start to 2024, and to understanding pubertal timing after #earlylifetramua (1) Paper accepted to @HormBehav and (2) a NU Undergraduate PEAK award to labbie @prachi_thakur4, to take that project in a new direction!
What a treat hosting @TravisEHodges yesterday! Super talk about higher cognitive bias in middle aged males compared to adolescents and relationships with infl cytokines.. also got to learn a bit about what I’ve missed by not watching Golden Batchelor
Incredibly honored to be added to this Women in Medicine and Science wall, amongst some of my science heroes! Huge thanks to @AtSpared and everyone at @McLeanHospital who organized the day and took the time to meet with me #WomenInSTEM @NortheasternCOS

What’s better than giving my first @SfNtweets nanosymposium talk this year? Getting to do it with my favorite lab twin @mikeyfan7 by my side along with so many incredible scientists from @Cate_cholamine @Bangasser_Lab @ampolter @DemaestriC @lauren_malave labs and more! #sfn2023

Excited to share the new preprint from the lab. We found that early life stress (ELS) disrupts the brain-wide functional connectivity of the raphe nucleus and parsed out the individual circuits to rescue ELS-induced anxiety @RamkumarRaksha @moriah_edge @DTerstege @nk_sakib
