I joined the Anadarko Basin coring project #DeepDust drill site last weekend. We have gone through more that 500 ft of core in the last couple of mornings with more under way.

A key point in the Bagualia #Procb paper was to have precise dates, not only of the dinosaur but for the volcanic event that caused environmental changes. Ash layers were critical but you need to have someone like @J_Ramez from in the team to deal with them! @BowringLabMIT

It's a geochronologist paradise when the bone bed itself (EB) turns out to be a volcanic ash layer!

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Samuel A. Bowring, EAPS Robert R. Schrock Professor Emeritus of Geology. A celebrated scientist, dedicated teacher, mentor and friend, Sam will be missed, but his legendary contributions to MIT and geoscience endure.
