I haven't seen a lot of people talk about this sort of stuff, so I'm not sure what the general consensus is on how fun it is getting distracted in Minecraft.
But I do also think it's something that every Minceraft player experiences, what do you think?
And yes I can of course expand my base or build some contraption, but sometimes I want to do something different, and the only options are either explore structures or watch wheat grow.
And there's actually very little to do other than explore and fight monsters, Farming Crops and Fishing are super basic, and Trail Ruins are a complete waste of time.
I don't just want to be distracted, I want to spend and hour getting sidetracked with something interesting.
Though, I sometimes find myself struggling to find engaging ways to distract myself. Trial Chambers and Ancient Cities are amazing, End Cities are cool, but most other structures are either too boring or give too niche of a reward to interest me.
And honestly I think this is one of the best ways to play Minecraft! You can do whatever you want at whatever pace, and it's fine if what you originally wanted to do doesn't get done! There's always tomorrow! It's your world you should enjoy it the way you want to!
Something I've been thinking about for a while now is how much I enjoy getting distracted in Minecraft.
Whether it's a small unfinished part of the base or a cave that has diamonds in it, I always enjoy finding the little things that I can/need to do.
The only thing I miss from old caves was the fact that Strip Mining was super chill but still rewarding in those old days.
I don't even miss the caves themselves, I just miss Strip Mining for hours while rain was running down the window, Deepslate kind of ruined it for me...
I would find the 4th dimension WAYY more interesting in concept if Skulk was treated more like an aspect of the ecosystem and not this evil soul sucking mass that grows and invades everything it senses.

Imo Exploding Beds are fine, players won't forget the humiliation of losing all your items to Intentional Game Design.
It's stupid piece of Minecraft, but it is just one set back in an infinite world, and the player will never use a bed in The Nether after an incident like that.
I built a monorail that sets the Sulfur Cube off-center of the Glass Pane underneath it, it's actually pretty convenient!
Super happy to see Pikmin 1^2 in GDQ! It's gonna be so cool to see peak-min being run at peak speeds!
As a Pikmin fan that quote terrifies me.

we could use this to calculate the attack power of every enemy from Pikmin...

Dream Den Sublevel 8 moment (Why is this treasure so weird)
I think it was a bad idea to add new special weapons to splat 3. They were under tuned and often made weapon kits not only competitively worse, but also less fun to use, and often kept the older specials from reappearing.
