FRONT RANGE RAIN/SNOW STORM UPDATE
Wed Oct 14, 2026 4:30 PM MDT
π Our lovely upper-low is spinning just south of Moab UT right now, producing lots of rain and snow across Colorado. The low will track directly over Denver during the overnight, putting the heaviest swath of precip north along the CO-WY border area.
βοΈ Continued upslope into the Front Range will have us locked into fog, drizzle and mist all night and through Thursday morning. There's still a chance for an uptick in rain intensity briefly for Denver and Boulder Thursday morning as the storm makes its exit, but not a lot of excitement left with this one (unless drizzle is your spirit animal!)

Mid-October snowpack percentages are about useless, but this one brought a smile to our face....3700% π
Seriously, though, SW Colorado has been extremely wet of late. Over the last 30 days, the San Juans have received 5 to 15 inches of precipitation (yes, up to 15 inches!), most of that falling as rain, even at high altitude, thanks to the remnants of two eastern Pacific hurricanes coming in at just the right direction relative to the terrain. Unsurprisingly, drought has improved in this area.
It's early, but hopefully it's a sign of things to come this super El NiΓ±o winter for our state which currently sits at 60% drought coverage.
