Incidentally, Bootique that was conceived 10 years ago is rather Claude-friendly out of the box. With "-h" describing in plain text how to run and "-H" - how to configure an app. The idea back then was to make each app self-explanatory in runtime. Little did we know 🙂

Excited to be in Philly on 04/24 to talk about @BootiqueProject Bootique rejects the conventional wisdom that "standard" OO Java idioms are not enough for modern apps Looking forward to conversations about Java app engines, and what we can do better as a #Java community

The first part of this is ready, so no more module providers. The second is in progress with a working prototype. groups.google.com/g/bootique…
Started working on a few ideas over the weekend to get rid of the remaining boilerplate in @BootiqueProject modules. Module providers can go away, and service "factories" initialized from YAML, vars, etc. can be auto-bound in DI. Should make dev experience even smoother.

Just committed lots of fixes / improvements to SLF4J MDC (logging context): * API to create own per-request log context * MDC no longer disappears in request last log line * Websockets inherit context of the parent MDC, so you can trace WS interaction to original HTTP request

On @BootiqueProject 5y anniversary, remembering main insight that got it started: if you don't like established tech, you can actually afford to build an alternative as a person or a small team. Testament to quality of #opensource components out there that enable such experiments

Don't use JPA, instead here is one for Cayenne ORM. A bit more code, but that's the point I guess. All OO benefits, bootstrap looks like the actual app "main" method and allows direct customization. Move to JUnit 5 is next, which will provide a saner lifecycle binding.

I guess JUnit 5 is mature enough to be offered as a default option in a framework like @BootiqueProject ? With its powerful lifecycle there are lots of reasons to switch. Still wonder if this is too big of a jump for an average user?

For backend: If you are a mainstream developer @springboot is the only obvious choice presently. If you want to be more bleeding edge you could try @micronautfw @BootiqueProject or ktor. @kotlin as my language. For frontend: @reactjs or @vuejs with @typescript as language

Just added support for @apachekafka streams to Bootique. Very easy to bootstrap and customize your streams via injectable KafkaStreamsFactory. Happy streaming! github.com/bootique/bootique…
