oops, he´s getting beat, isn´t he?
but who by?
Altramuz (ran him to a nose a month ago)
Justin Chicago (Gr2 trial win was a fluke... or was it?)
Going To Sky (lousy ride in that trial)
Audacia (another eyecatcher in that trial)
Danon History (hammers donkeys)
or....?
today in Lino Brocka retro at @doclisboa saw his (bad) 1970 debut WANTED: PERFECT MOTHER, in which four of the main cast are bairns including 3yo "Snooky" who gives the best performance in the picture.... And now I learn she (Snooky Serna) went on to be a big star of the 80s/90s.
in Lisbon I keep seeing streets etc named after Pope John XXI, who I now learn was the only Portuguese Pope in history.
Born "Pedro Julião" he reigned for just over 7 months in 1276-7 and was killed after the ceiling of his private apartment fell in on top of him.
the following century gave us John XXII (Jacques Duèze) who reigned from Avignon... and then we had to wait more than 600 years for the radical megastar, John XXIII (as seen in THE PARALLAX VIEW).
Tirano, a likeable grey son of Gold Ship, winning an allowance race at Tokyo on Sunday—his 9th start this season.
"now she´s the towering favorite"
not with the actual bookies...
#GoedemorgenNederland #WNL
just for the record: while I do like DIGGER, (even) I do not regard it as the best film I´ve ever seen.

«« yep, fine cool-headed-but-forceful ride from 20yo Seinosuke Yoshimura who has won 3xGr3 and now a Gr2 and surely a Gr1 is a case of "when" rather than "if."

An unexpectedly superb turn of foot, a young rising star of a jockey, and a good bit of hype surrounding his funny pedigree & career so far. Sugar Kun could be a name to look out for should he enter the Mile Championship!

🥇Sugar Kun

A superb comeback win for Kitasan Black’s younger half-brother, who’d struggled since returning from a tendon injury.
He previously won the Aoba Sho (G2 / Tokyo / 2400m). He’s a big horse whose real strength lies in making the most of his momentum, and that’s exactly how he ran today.

Ivy Stakes (LR) at Tokyo yesterday. Lemaire on Leontes colt KORALLION (2nd) very much riding with the future in mind. Obviously the best horse in the race... 2027 star? Maybe!
