The corporate giant hasn't moved on economic issues in negotiations, and now 98% of @SBWorkersUnited has voted to call a work stoppage “if necessary.”
The union has 10,000 workers at 500 stores.

On housing, the Fall Economic Statement repeats facile supply-and-demand arguments, again avoiding the regulations needed to curb profiteering & financialization. Unwillingness to confront the real estate industry has been a trademark of this gov, from beginning to end #canpoli

With strike at U Toronto (@UofTNews) to begin tomorrow, some 11,000 workers will be on strike at Ontario’s 2 largest universities. With possibility of more to come.
The systemic underfunding of post-secondary will ensure this is the new norm.

We responded to Palestinian trade unions’ urgent call for #CeasefireNOW in Gaza and for action to halt the arms trade to Israel.
It can no longer be business-as-usual for companies arming Israel.

@BockingPaul’s work talks about this—how little teacher voices and input are considered in education policy making.
Personally I think it speaks to the feminization of the work and of teaching. Why listen to women? I bet it’s the same for nurses.

We can't allow any govt to set up the public ed system for failure!
We have seen what ⬆️ privatization looks like in the US with charter schools, vouchers, tax credits, etc. Billions of public dollars end up in the hands of wealthy corporations. #OntEd #ProPublicEd #OSSTF

Let’s be clear: “catch up” money in #OnPoli Throne Speech is privatization by diverting $ from #Onted publicly funded ed system. Yes, there are families struggling but there are more effective ways of targeted support than universal payments inc children in private & home schools – at Toronto, Ontario
The # of kids in Ont is 3,094,691kids less than 19 in Ont
So if the gov is giving $225mill to parents 4kids 2 "catch up". Then each kid gets $72/kid
That doesnt even buy you 1hr of slp/computer/anything substantial
