Horrified to hear how close we were to another mass shooting in Illinois - one that would have devastated us all.
I am so grateful that Congressman Krishnamoorthi, his family and the entire Hindu community are safe thanks to the work of our local law enforcement.
Only 90 minutes after the 2022 Highland Park Fourth of July mass shooting, Darren Bailey told my community to just “move on.”
I trust @JBPritzker to make our entire state safer from gun violence. I wouldn’t trust @DarrenBaileyIL to be a school crossing guard.

@JBPritzker has delivered for Illinois. Now he’s ready to keep fighting.

All too common for state legislators across the country - of both parties - to endure threats of political violence.
We must be able to represent our communities and advocate for our values without fear for our safety. Standing in solidarity w/ my friend @almaforarizona 💪👊.
I wouldn’t wish the hate and threats I’ve faced since 2018 on any of my colleagues. More than 8 years later, it hasn’t improved. Disagreement is part of democracy, but the threats I’ve endured is beyond acceptable. Thank you @nytimes & Reis 💙

An act of antisemitism was reported in our community today and has once again shaken many of us. On behalf of the City of Highland Park, we condemn this incident in the strongest terms.

This EO from @GovPritzker is exactly the seriousness and urgency with which Illinois needs to move with regards to AI Safety.
An Illinois AI Cabinet could not come at a better time.

As Yom Kippur begins, I wish an easy and meaningful fast.
May this Day of Atonement offer time for reflection, and may the year ahead bring strength, good health, and hope to you and your loved ones.

AI safety is too important to get wrong. Unlike Trump, we’re not sitting on our hands.
Before industry leaders sounded the alarm, I enacted first-in-the-nation AI safety measures mandating third-party audits of frontier labs.
Congress must follow our lead.

The People should decide the fate of our civilization, not AI oligarchs.
@AlexBores asks the key question, "Who Decides"? I believe it should be US who decide.👇
VOTE THEM ALL OUT - Dems will take the wheel and keep us from driving off the catastrophic AI cliff.

A week ago, five state legislators asked for the frontier AI companies to propose a framework for pacing AI research, as a complement to action by government.
Today, the CEO of Anthropic proposed one, and Sam Altman (CEO of OpenAI) and Elon Musk immediately indicated they agreed.
Turns out the speed of AI policy can be almost as fast as the speed of AI research.
And if this framework is actually implemented, the speed of AI policy might just have a chance to finally catch up.
We Must Pace the Frontier: I’ve written a new essay on why the AI industry should slow down, with a three-part plan for doing so.
Anthropic is unilaterally committing to the first of these steps. We’ll provide third-party evaluators with permanent, employee-level access to our systems, so that they can verify adherence to our safety measures, report on incidents, and assess models’ alignment during training.
