Yeah he's so political, so sophisticated, he will swear in court that everything's just overrated.

intelligence like “iran is seconds away from a nuke” or “don’t worry iraq will be no problem just like afghanistan” or “iran will be toppled in a day, just kill the 87 yo ayatollah.” seems self serving & not worth 380bn + destruction of the region at the behest of israeli primacy
I think a lot of people with El-Sayed's views have no idea how much actual intelligence we get from Israel. And he also underrates how just the fact that Israel is a successful state and many other states in the region are failures matters here.

Jason Alexander says he feared visiting Palestine as a Jew until 10 Palestinians protected him during an Israeli army raid in Ramallah “How much of a risk would I be taking as an American Jew walking into Palestinian cities? And Mohammed said, ‘The greatest dishonor that could happen to a religious Muslim is to allow harm to come to an invited guest’” “And he said, ‘Jason, if they had to, they’ll take a bullet for you.’ And what was so interesting about that trip is, we were having lunch in Ramallah with a bunch of actors and artists at a sort of outdoor restaurant” “And the Israeli army was conducting a raid on a bank that they thought had terrorist ties a couple blocks away. And they must have, to announce themselves, just shot into the air. And I remember 10 of those guys at the table surrounding me. And I went, ‘Oh my God, he wasn’t kidding. They’re not going to let me get hurt’”

You see, the greatest French writer in history, Victor Hugo wrote an entire novel about how looting to feed yourself and your family is not a crime or personal failing, but a fundamental flaw of a corrupt system that gives you no other choice
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
In Les Misérables Jean Valjean stole one loaf of bread to feed his sister's seven children. Recent Paris looting involved crowds taking cigarettes jewelry luxury goods and consumer items from stores. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jean_Valj… en.wikisource.org/wiki/Les_Mis%C… thelocal.fr/20261018/never…

*Abdul El-Sayed smiles at a mosque* [ADL]: We will be filling a complaint with the Department of Justice *Trump doing an Elders of Zion riff* [ADL]:
The term “Shylock” is rooted in a longstanding antisemitic stereotype. Regardless of intent, its use can reinforce harmful tropes about Jews and normalize language that has long been used to target the Jewish community.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
The term was used (for at least the second intent in as many years) by President Trump. forbes.com/sites/siladity… Important context to point out the user of the term regardless of intent.

Finally watched Digger: I think I hate it but every time I attempt to explain why I hate it I describe liking it. I’m not sure what’s happening here.

one of my favorite passages in the black jacobins
it's nice to celebrate the French revolutionary spirit & its ideals of liberté, égalité, & fraternité. still, when Haiti tried to realize the universal meaning of those ideals 1791–1804 it was ostracized & made to pay reparations for its freedom. liberalism always had its limits

Good time to share that political prisoner Josh Williams who was arrested after the Ferguson protests AT 19 and incarcerated for 12 YEARS is getting released and funds are being raised for him. givebutter.com/support-fergu…
hot take: looking at Europe as the only place that resists governments correctly is racist and erases countless African & non-Black Indigenous rebellions

“A good guy with a gun” and it’s a scared father forced to blow away a teenager. He didn’t even come forward himself, he’s so traumatized. His damn brother identified him and is practically doing a media circuit.

My biggest critique of the film (which was masterful) was that it glides past all of this, and the scale of the fraud, to allow you to feel sympathetic to her argument.
A few readers have taken me to task for “missing the point of the film,” which is apparently that Elizabeth Holmes is unknowable and everything is ambiguous. Here’s my response: She went after Tyler Shultz and Erika Cheung with everything she had. I was threatened with litigation on a daily basis for months on end. It was a ruthless cover-up of a breathtaking fraud, and she was at the controls. Just a little context for those who have forgotten or didn’t follow the original story. By the way, I loved the film. #BestPicture, IMO.

Here’s the American that just got savagely beaten by settlers. Not Heidi Levine—the one from yesterday, Haitham Taysir.
Palestinian-American citizen Haitham Tayseer Abdel Jaber, from the town of Burqa near Ramallah, recounted to MEE a violent assault by Israeli settlers on Thursday which left him with severe injuries.

Interesting perspective for the “try being a Jew in Ramallah and see what happens to you 😈” crowd: a 65 year old Jewish American journalist being treated with care in a Palestinian hospital after being beaten nearly to death by Israeli Jewish settler terrorists. Makes you think!
Replying to @infinite_jaz
Heidi Levine is up and speaking from the hospital in Ramallah.
