Dave, spare me the faux concern. You confidently broadcast economic bullshit, refuse to correct it when exposed, and then invoke ordinary Australians as moral cover for your own irresponsibility. This is how Trumpist politics takes hold: confident falsehoods are repeated until they become tribal truths, corrections are dismissed as bullshit, and the person checking the facts becomes the enemy. Once we accept that style of public discourse here, we should not be surprised when we end up with the same degraded political culture. You do not improve Australians’ living standards by misleading them. You do not serve the public by feeding them political fiction on sycophantic platforms where nobody interrupts the performance with facts. You asked what you got wrong. I answered in detail. Four replies later, you have not rebutted a single point. Your concern for Australians would be more convincing if it extended to whether the things you tell them are true.

Dave, you've responded to a detailed fact check by introducing an entirely different argument. Whether government should be smaller is an interesting discussion. It just isn't the discussion we were having. We were discussing whether your description of Australia's economic history in a 90 second clip was accurate. It wasn't. What I think is extraordinary isn't that you got things wrong. Everyone does. It's that you've conceded precisely nothing. Not one factual error. Not one correction. Not one "Fair enough, I got that wrong". You have a remarkable ability to turn economic fiction into confident public performance. The problem isn't just the mistake. It's that once the performance is over, the fiction is simply left behind for your audience to keep repeating. You haven't acknowledged that you confused government debt with the Future Fund. Your reply now explains how the Future Fund grew from around $60 billion to $255 billion which is a baffling addition, given you previously spoke about it as though it had ceased to exist. You haven't acknowledged that you claimed the GFC stimulus was funded by the Future Fund. Or that your broader account of Australia's response to the GFC was wildly misleading. Instead, you've simply changed the subject, which is a perfectly respectable debating tactic, provided nobody remembers what the original discussion was about. When the errors are painstakingly explained, you don't correct the record. You simply move on, leaving the misinformation behind for your audience to repeat as though it were true. I’m reminded of a line from Jackson Lamb in Slow Horses - Explaining this to you has become rather like trying to explain Norway to a dog.

If you're able to help Vicky - no matter the amount - you'll be standing shoulder to shoulder with good racing people against everything that is wrong with the current administration.
To my fellow breeders, trainers, owners, and horse racing industry participants, My professional life has been devoted to the thoroughbred industry, driven by a purpose to help strengthen its future. I co-founded The Thoroughbred Report (TTR) with Gary King because this industry deserves its stories told well - and its leadership examined openly. Without transparency, there is no growth, and without accountability, there is no future. In November, TTR published what we maintain was a measured analysis discussing a simple governance question: Is a 21-year tenure as CEO still serving the best interests of our industry? Our story is now the subject of Supreme Court legal action for personal defamation by Mr V'landys, CEO of Racing NSW. I want to be very clear: our article was not defamatory of Mr V’landys. It was an objective discussion of tenure and governance, published squarely in the public interest while the NSW Government is actively reviewing the Thoroughbred Racing Act. We will be defending this claim vigorously. But defending a Supreme Court action of this scale is not something one person can shoulder quietly - and it comes with significant financial cost. Which is why I need your support. Silencing the media for asking uncomfortable questions is not acceptable. It suggests a leadership structure that has become resistant to any scrutiny or debate. This is textbook “chilling effect”, where participants feel reluctant to speak openly for fear of consequences. The NSW Parliament itself cautioned Racing NSW only months ago about conduct that may discourage scrutiny. It is deeply concerning that this behaviour is allowed to continue unchecked. To suppress a valid, objective discussion about CEO tenure - a cornerstone of accountability in any organisation - is a clear failure of governance. I am speaking out because many others feel they cannot. I am standing for the trainer or jockey who fears professional consequences for expressing concern. I am standing for breeders whose integrity was publicly accused in the parliamentary inquiry. And I am standing for an industry I love - whose resources are routinely being used to fund costly litigation. Racing NSW is currently engaged in Supreme Court proceedings against the ATC and has previously funded defamation litigation for Mr V’landys. When asked whether Racing NSW is funding this personal defamation action, Mr V’landys did not deny it. Every dollar Racing NSW spends on legal action is taking away from trainers, owners, participants – as well as equine welfare, infrastructure and the future of our sport. NSW industry governance has consequences beyond NSW. Through the structure of Racing Australia, it is a national concern, affecting participants across the country. Because the Racing Pattern underpins the international bloodstock market, it also has global consequences. I am prepared to defend this action, but I need your help. Defending a Supreme Court action of this scale is designed to be prohibitively expensive - a strategy of attrition. I have established a dedicated legal defence fund to ensure we can respond properly. 👉 gofund.me/fe0b46710 Whether your contribution is small or significant, your support helps ensure that accountability and open discussion remain part of our industry’s future. I am going to defend this case because the principle matters. This fund has been established solely to meet the legal costs of defending this proceeding and to ensure that accountability and open discussion remain part of our industry’s future. With gratitude and determination 🙏 Vicky Leonard

Winning the last, ⚪️🔴🟢Toussaint (Tivaci x Oceans Eight) gets the job done to cap off the day for the stable with a well-deserved win at @goulburnraces. The filly jumped cleanly and settled midfield before @AndrewAdkins103 gave her a little squeeze around the bend, responding strongly and coming over her competitors late to land the prize right on the line.💪💪 🙌Well done to all her connections.

The arrogance and ignorance within Racing NSW and its hierarchy is clearly and rightly called to account by @TTRAusNZ in this well-penned statement.

Anyone who has interacted with Vicky - or seen her tireless work trying to correct the misinformation around racing and improve its social license - simply must be outraged by the allegations from Peter Vlandys. As a (for profit) start up in racing, I know how hard it is to get off the ground and try to make a positive difference. I can't even begin to imagine what it's like to keep pushing down brick walls as a not-for-profit and sinking so much unpaid time into it. @vickyleo if I can help Kick Up for Racing by donating some developer time, and/or some funds to help the cause I would love to. I am a small fish but I want to help. Hit me up!
Vicky Leonard Personal Statement A Concerns Notice to TTR issued by Peter V’landys makes false, shockingly damaging allegations about Lindy and me, twisting National Thoroughbred Week and Pony Racing to be for our personal financial gain. We have now received a further letter today following the TTRs statement on this matter. It makes me sick to my stomach that I have to defend our work - delivered off our own bat because our leaders wouldn’t do it - but this is how low our standards of governance have fallen.

Numerous instances where Weir has been deemed as “remorseful” for his actions…whether that is just due to being caught, no idea. But hopefully this is the end of the puppy dog eye articles and the end of Darren Weir as someone involved in horse racing in any way
