The Maher stable still undecided whether any of their Caulfield Cup runners back up into the Cox Plate. They have two confirmed runners - Land Legend (Ethan Brown) and Light Infantry Man (Harry Coffey).
📰 Some news headlines from Sunday:
🐎 Jye McNeil and Mark Zahra are both home and resting after Saturday’s fall
🐎 Half Yours is ok; his spring is likely over
🐎 Nine confirmed for the Cox Plate at this stage, including Ceolwulf
🐎 Godolphin giving serious consideration to running Tempted in the Champions Sprint
🐎 Jamie Melham to appeal her suspension (as it stands, she is due to miss Derby Day)
🐎 Vauban and The Euphrates to be among the noms for Wednesday’s Geelong Cup
🐎 Aethelwulf a likely starter for the Moonee Valley Gold Cup with C Williams to ride
🐎 Kingswood likely to be spelled; Saintly Dancer and Blue Door are off to the paddock
Both jockeys are now home. McNeil was discharged just after midday. A great outcome.
📰 No Coolmore Stud Stakes for Blue Door; the Bjorn Baker-trained filly will go for a spell. A good campaign; she won the G3 Heritage Stakes and placed in both the Listed Rosebud Stakes and G3 San Domenico Stakes before placing 11th in The Everest.
📰 Saturday's G1 Thousand Guineas winner Saintly Dancer has pulled up well. Tim Wilson from @FirstLight_FLR has confirmed she will go to the paddock. Races like the Angus Armanasco and Kewney in the Melbourne autumn are on the radar before a planned trip to Sydney.
Jason Walsh is said man, by the way.
📰 Speaking yesterday to Godolphin's Australian racing and bloodstock manager, they will give serious consideration to running Tempted in the G1 Champions Sprint (1200m) at Flemington on November 7. The gun sprinter, who won Saturday's The Everest, has never raced at Flemington.
📰 I reckon we're looking at a field of around 10 for Saturday's Cox Plate. No decision yet on Cosmic Crusader; owner Bob Peters will make a call in the next day or two. Of those not confirmed below, I would say Autumn Boy and Cosmic Crusader are the most likely.
📰 Have touched base with VJA boss Matt Hyland this morning - Mark Zahra was discharged from hospital last night. Jye McNeil is still in hospital. He has escaped serious injury and is likely to be discharged at some stage today, possibly this morning.

Following the unfortunate fall at Caulfield today, I am with Jye at the hospital and he has asked me to communicate on his behalf. Jye and his family sincerely appreciate everyone’s concern for his welfare. He was transported to hospital by Ambulance Victoria and is in great care. He is understandably a little shaken, but at this stage there are no apparent broken bones. Jye is extremely grateful for the immediate care and support provided by the @RacingVictoria doctors and first-aid team, together with the @MelbRacingClub team. He also greatly appreciates the care and support of the Victorian Jockey Association and CEO Matthew Hyland, who has been there supporting Jye, Jess and the family throughout. Jye has sent his sincere condolences to Mr Zhang, @YulongInvest and the team at @ChrisWallerRacing following the very sad loss of Ohope Wins. His thoughts are with everyone who loved and cared for her. Thank you again to everyone who has reached out and shown their concern, he will be back in the saddle very soon 🙏. @SEN_track @Racing
