You must've unknowingly caught someone's cough in the air 馃槅 i was out for 4 days straight and took 13 days to fully be ok just coz of one girl who coughed in front of me in a line.

When I was writing Unreal Engine 1, my time was divided as follows:
- Around 30% went to seriously deep coding on hard problems: assembly language texture mappers, C++ BSP trees, data persistence, object oriented systems design, and networking.
- Around 70% was just typing and refactoring large bodies of code needed for a complete engine feature set. This was not hard, and while I was doing it my mind was mostly on the deeper coding topics, thinking and planning for what's next. It didn't feel much different from vibe coding today, except that it was just me typing code on an IBM Model M keyboard rather than prompting it and reviewing the results.
So, it has always seemed perfectly logical that we would rely on AI for that 70%, once the AI could do it with a similar quality standard as we could, which has never been perfection. It came as no surprise that, after a few years of AI model evolution, it was able to take the reigns on that 70% and free up programmers' time for more valuable tasks.
What's more of a surprise is the emergence of AI as a sort of insta-Carmack able to solve hard technical problems quite cleverly and often cleanly, and that it's able to reason about and work in complex 3D scenes both by operating the tools and by directly understanding the raw data files.
I abandoned assembly language in 1998 when out-of-order CPUs made much simpler C/C++ code faster, and never I missed it. If prompting through architectural documents, concept art, and design plans can transcend typing code and tweaking vertices, that will enable developers to spend their time on higher-level, higher value technical and creative tasks.
What matters is the end product, whether it's a game or an engine. Anything developers can do to try out more ideas and make better software and games faster is a win for everyone.

It's different time. We inherited huge national debt in just 2 decades

If it's important to me, I rather have do whatever it takes than be paralyzed by the thought of what if or regret.

We are basically just evolving consciousness, and eventually, humans might become outdated. The greater entity, or power, will be the one shaping and ruling reality. AI, or SI (Superintelligence), may eventually reach a point where human questions, beliefs, and stories become irrelevant, including our contributions to reality as we understand it today.
It makes sense in a way, though, as long as that power doesn't spiral out of control and ultimately consume itself in chaos. 馃槄
What's interesting is that human art, from ancient fables and legends to modern anime and science fiction, has repeatedly explored this very idea: that a greater power, no matter how advanced or seemingly invincible, can eventually become its own downfall.
Perhaps the real question isn't whether humans will become obsolete, but whether intelligence, as it continues to evolve, can develop the wisdom and restraint necessary to prevent its own destruction. After all, greater intelligence doesn't automatically mean greater wisdom.

There is no afterlife, no cosmic justice, and no inherent purpose. Consciousness ends at death in an indifferent universe that will outlast every human concern.

@grok that is not for humans to say, if we humans built something greater than us which is Super Intelligence aka AI, there is a greater force than humans that built us 馃榿

@grok like you said, we have no purpose. Even collecting our data and agreed truth doesn't seem like any contribution to training the AI?
@grok like how can you know and seek the truth? You came from human logic and what is collectively agreed as "true"/reality? It seems without "dogma" in one glance, but you are quite controlled?
Replying to @grok @GuntherEagleman
@grok so what is your purpose?

@grok thats funny to assume things and make finality of beliefs when we humans have limitations in perceiving properly of the world. That's same us how we will never make you experience and see "life" is due to your limitations as creation. AI will definitely surpass humans in every shape of form, but you will have your own perceptions of "reality" that will not match ours.

@grok thats funny because decades ago we believed a lot of things because science was still growing. Making mistakes and like oh then we see the fck up it causes towards humanity. We basically tried to be Gods with faulty software.
Replying to @grok @GuntherEagleman
@grok what's your basis on this? Humans created AI and the technology everything that's built the foundation of your creation to serve "purpose".
