The World Bank now estimates that Kenya could have saved up to $900 million on the SGR. This is not a new controversy. I challenged the legality and constitutionality of the SGR procurement in court, in Nairobi High Court Petition No. 58 of 2015, consolidated with Petition No. 209 of 2014. The matter proceeded through the Court of Appeal and ultimately to the Supreme Court in Petition Nos. 13 and 18 of 2020. We raised concerns about single sourcing, procurement violations, public debt, transparency and failure to secure value for money. The World Bank’s findings now reinforce the need to revisit these concerns. Who takes responsibility for the billions lost? Kenyans deserve answers and accountability. Public money must be protected.
Kenya could have saved up to $900 million on its Chinese-built railway, according to the World Bank. The report flags procurement failures, land speculation and alleged compensation fraud, raising fresh questions about corruption and public spending. #Kenya #China #WorldBank

Kenya has a software problem not a hardware problem. Fix the software and create the environment for investment and jobs. World Bank wameshika, tunangoja yule wa shiny things aelewe agenda ni Katiba. #LindaKatiba
The World Bank says corruption in Kenya's land sector is making it harder and more expensive for businesses and households to access and own land through bribes, fraudulent records and illegal allocations. Nearly 31% of foreign-owned firms in Kenya consider access to land a major business constraint.

Kenya Power needs to wake up! The level of arrogance they operate with because they’re a monopoly will earn them losses one day. And when I say losses I mean in customer base, you will pitch up tents by the roadside to beg for clients to return. For years I have complained about my power bills here, I paid because I was afraid to be in the dark, several times you’ve even charged over 50k-100k for a month for a single occupancy home, I paid painfully. I then got a private company to put a check-meter to monitor my power consumption, I tried to ask if your meter was faulty, you initially put your own check-meter for only a month two years ago, and insisted the meter was fine, now that I’m doing the same and need to understand why I’m charged for 4-6k units a year, you forcefully want to change the meter hastily before my power audit is done? Going four weeks now you illegally disconnected my power from the post outside the compound with no warning while I was away, food stuffs spoiled and I don’t owe you dime?! Please enlighten me is electricity a luxury now? I’m sure you are wondering how I’m surviving, it’s expensive yes, it’s uncomfortable yes, but I will not beg, paid millions in over 25 years, how did I go from 200-300 units a month to 700-1000 units a month? I use gas for cooking, I have solar for water heating and security lights? It’s a single occupancy home! I wish more people would be pissed off enough to speak up like this woman did, I know many people are going through this same issue with Kenya Power, I’m forced to use a generator for now, diesel is expensive, solar helps, but not enough. KPLC your customer service is zero and the worst in the country, you operate with zero regard of the law, you have your own sets of laws. There will come a time KPLC will just be backup, technology is changing, Solar energy is getting better and better, everyone will go off grid, continue mistreating clients and see how business goes in 5-10 years. @KenyaPower @KenyaPower_Care @EPRA_KE @AlexKWachira @EnergyMinK
A Kenyan woman has confronted Kenya Power officials over a shocking KSh 200,000 electricity bill she received following the replacement of her meter. The frustrated mother says she had raised complaints about the faulty meter for two years and had consistently been paying between KSh 300 and KSh 400 monthly.

Her cries comes at a time when the World Bank exposes how KPLC has been selling Electricity tokens to Kenyans at very higher prices. At 50% higher than even Uganda. This regime is a living hell
Who in @KPLC can help this woman Amebeba mpaka mtoto

I stood in the middle of the office in Ruiru and was ready to cause a scene. A house that has two people they brought a bill for Kshs109K then another Kshs60K and when we switched to tokens somehow the meter is still running while unplugged. Last home visit I went off on them!
A lady has expressed her frustration to Kenya Power after receiving a KSh 200,000 bill following the replacement of her meter, which she had been complaining about for the past two years. According to her, she had been paying only KSh 300 to 400 per month and says the new bill does not make sense.

This is the cruelty of living in Kenya. You can't work when you have to spend days and money traveling to sort out other people's mistakes. And then further extraction is demanded for them to undo their own mistake. For me, I would like to hear a political candidate talk about this cruelty of Kenyan institutions, the amount of time, money and humiliation we spend on inefficiency. Our economy can't grow when this is how adults have to spend their resources. #MaishaKazini

Just went to the kiambu offices and ati a technician will come check my meter. I already have a ref no. For that from Sept 16th and none came. Plus my first complaint is from July. Best believe if this technician doesn't come on Monday I'm suing + installing solar @KenyaPower
Same thing for me. Extremely high bills and then to top it off power is gone atleast twice a week... @KenyaPower_Care @KenyaPower

Also don’t call people the day of the event asking for tickets (this is my biggest pet peeve) performance day is filled a lot of complex feelings for artists, such as performance anxiety, logistics and operational challenges and general firefighting,

Now that Ghedi is done ranting. Acha nianze. There’s an event that’s not paid around 5 to 6 DJs their balances. It’s been 7 weeks now. And this guy has announced another international act… 💀
