I was honoured to attend the Somali Village Exhibition in Bradford after being invited by Sado Jirde @BlackSWNet . The exhibition was powerful, educational, and emotional, highlighting the history, resilience, and contribution of Somali communities in Bradford and the UK.
One of the most moving parts was learning about Halimo Abdi Badil, recognised as part of Bradford’s first recorded Muslim burial in 1904. The exhibition challenged colonial narratives and celebrated the strength, faith, and endurance of Somali people through historical stories and photographs.
A truly inspiring experience. Thank you to the organisers for preserving and sharing this important history. #SomaliHistory #Bradford #SomaliVillageExhibition

There is so much hatred right now directed at the Jewish & Muslim communities. And it’s frightening to see it having real life consequences. Good community relations & kinship have never been needed more. All the division especially here is fuelling the very worst in people.

Themes include ensuring the community sector is resourced & supported, community leadership doesn't mean being responsible for solving everything - it means having a seat at the table, mobilising external funding, and working intentionally with communities to share power.

So glad that we’ve agreed to have Erasmus+ for our young people.
And to work towards a youth experience scheme.
This will allow the next generation to once again live and study in each other’s countries.
From my own experience, this will build friendships that last a lifetime.
