Evy Hambro has been one of the world’s leading mining investors for over 30 years... and what he said today about the copper market on @BloombergTV is absolutely right... it is very, very tight.
Inventories are vanishing, mines are aging, grades are declining, and new supply takes decades to find, permit, develop, finance and then build.
At the same time, governments are now racing to secure and reshore strategic supply chains… and they are committing significant capital to make it happen.

Rio2 has received regulatory approval for the Modification of the Environmental Impact Study for the expansion of its Condestable underground copper mine in Peru. The approved MEIA includes environmental authorization for a dry-stack tailings facility, permits an expansion of throughput capacity to 10,000 tonnes per day from the current capacity of 8,400 tpd, and extends Condestable’s environmentally approved mine life by a further decade.
