In 2008 or so my dad bought a 360. He played H3 with his buddies online, and I would come and play Co-op campaign with him. It was one of the first times he and I bonded over something that wasn't football. Before a game one week he told me if I scored 3 TD's he would take me to Walmart and get me my own 360 and a copy of Halo 3 to play online with him. I scored 3 times but one was called back on a holding penalty. After the game I come off the field defeated because one didn't count. He told me that he was proud of me and that the penalty wasn't my fault, and that I did exactly what he had asked. We went and got that 360 and H3. To this day, he and I still play H3 online. This game and franchise created the best memories, and it's so sad to see the direction it's gone now. No one plays Halo on the reg anymore.

Purchased in South Korea in 1952 for $250, Reckless was originally trained as a racehorse before being bought by Marines to carry ammunition. She quickly learned supply routes and often carried ammunition to the front lines without a handler. She also learned to lie down or seek cover during artillery barrages and helped carry wounded Marines away from the fighting. During the Battle of Outpost Vegas in March 1953, Sergeant Reckless made 51 trips in a single day, carrying more than 9,000 pounds (4,100 kg) of ammunition over roughly 35 miles (56 km), much of it under heavy enemy fire. She was wounded twice but continued working throughout the battle. The Marines treated her as one of their own. She slept in their tents, ate with the men, and became famous for eating almost anything, including scrambled eggs, bacon, candy bars, beer, Coca-Cola, and even poker chips and blankets. After the war, Sergeant Reckless was brought to the United States, where she was promoted several times, eventually reaching the rank of Staff Sergeant. She received two Purple Hearts, the Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, the Korean Service Medal with three bronze service stars, the United Nations Korea Medal, and numerous other honors, making her one of the most decorated animals in U.S. military history. #archaeohistories

I did my first “one shot” where I built two new features, from front to back, with one prompt, and the source looked exactly the way I would write it. It took me a week or so to build the rules. But now I can add features in minutes rather than hours. Wild.

I’ve documented all of the rules. The idea is to be able to build a BOSS app with a single prompt. You can find it here github.com/PeqNP/boss/tree/m…

Just learned something incredible. If you suffer from GERD, and food doesn’t want to go down the tube, do (~20) squats.

I can't go back to the regular YouTube UI after this 😅 Obsidian Reader now makes the transcript interactive so you can scrub, highlight, auto-scroll. It feels so nice.

Flexoki 2.0 introduces 88 new colors that feel like watercolor pigments on paper. This is a continuation of my attempt to bring the feeling of analog color to digital emissive screens. Flexoki 1.0 only provided the a range of values for the grayscale colors. What I have been working to solve since then is how to expand the palette to a full range of values for every color, without desaturating the pigment effect. I'm very happy with how this turned out. Flexoki is open source under the MIT license, and already available for most text editors, terminals, and many other apps. Flexoki 2.0 makes it into a more capable color system for UIs and more complex projects.

In celebration of Omarchy 3.5 being the first distro to ship with complete Linux compatibility for the new XPS Panther Lake laptops, @Dell made me a special unit with super + omarchy keys instead of Windows and Copilot. So damn cool!

At this point if you're not snorting some creatine with some Cialis mixed in before your long Claude Code sessions, you're falling behind

BOSS Update When I developed BOSS, I designed it as platform to quickly make business software. I could make apps in days, instead of weeks. What I discovered today is blowing my mind. With Grok and Visual Studio, I created an app in about 2 minutes with BOSS. An expense tracker that would have taken me days. About two minutes. While I was learning the tool, the AI made several mistakes. I had AI provide me with a list of instructions on how to further refine its code generation so that the errors didn't happen again. Within the next couple of days I'm going to publish all of these rules so that you can make BOSS apps in literally minutes. At first I was anxious to use these tools. But now... man, I have a huge backlog, with fully defined requirements that I can just plug into Grok and it'll create the app. Absolutely incredible.

This is kind of a humble brag, as BOSS apps are insanely easy to create already. With AI, it's on steroids. The patterns are so easy, that it takes AI literally seconds to fully grok and generate useful BOSS apps.

Omarchy is incredible. I haven't smiled installing an OS... ever. I used the 2.x version a little while ago for dev and loved it. 3.x is incredible... I was using Nobara for gaming. Omarchy now detects and installs the right drivers automatically... it's a cinch to install Steam. I'm getting 20+FPS more! WTH?! That was better than Windows. The only "con" is that I had to update a config file to set the right refresh rate of the monitor. Unbelievably good job, @OmarchyLinux team!

BOSS update - Notifications & Events, Deep Links BOSS now allows you to send notifications from your backend to your front end apps. The BOSS Friends feature has fully integrated notifications, events, and deep links. Check it out!

Exceptionally good article on UI design, using Tahoe's regressions as examples of what not to do. Lots of side-by-side examples making the abstract obvious. tonsky.me/blog/tahoe-icons/ Via @daringfireball.
