Nostalgia is a powerful emotion. Just as veteran Robloxians crave older clients to relive their best memories, some of my best memories have been made in City of Heroes I2. If you happen to have any archived artifacts such as patched I2/I3 clients, please let me know. Thanks!

This release slipped out so quietly I almost missed it. ziglang.org/download/0.17.0/…

Thanks, @jitlua and gang. This is awesome, gonna frame it. Can’t believe you remembered that Evil Genius is one of my all-time favorite games 😈

Beating a dead horse, I know, but still aggravating. Fable is useless for my day-to-day work.

Project of weekend: Toyed with FPGA sound card idea for ISA bus. For now got AdLib/OPL3 working, next step is IRQ/DMA to get GUS and SB16 emulation

And here, just in case you're wondering how Silky's sounds:

Can't ship game music in the sehnsucht repo. Playlists already take remote URLs for that, but some sets are zipped and the hosts have no ZipFS. In the next release, sehnsucht will emulate ZipFS, so you can play Silky's MusicV OPL3.

While I'm working on adding A2M support to Sehnsucht, which of the easier formats should I implement next? #AdLib #Chiptune
25%SNGPlay (.sng)
0%MSC (.msc)
25%JBM (.jbm)

Thank you for participating. I should be able to implement .sng and .jbm over the weekend. They are rather easy formats, as neither uses any compression. As for "something else", well, I'm going to pick something quick and easy.

You might wonder if SAL is still in development. The answer is a resounding YES. I just froze the API, so the first public release is coming soon™

For the folks who got nostalgic after listening to the Dune II .adl, here is the intro of the original: #RetroGaming

Sehnsucht is getting a Sequence visualizer in the next release, so formats like ADL, CMF, and BAM can show what they actually play. Tracker and Sequence look alike on purpose. A tracker is a pattern grid: notes shared across channels, chained by an order list. A sequence is a stream in time: MIDI ticks, voice bytecode, or a wait-jump command list. #OPL3 #Chiptune

Appreciate the participation so far! For the folks who voted "Something else", I would appreciate it even more if you could let me know your preference from the list of future supported formats here: xitter.cf/Bitdancer/status/20916…
The goal for Version 1.0.0 of sehnsucht is to additionally support the following music formats:

I looked over my Steam library and came across store.steampowered.com/app/5…, which I played quite a bit years ago. If you haven't, check it out. It's fun, teaches some basic programming and electronics knowledge, and you support an independent game developer.

Chad Everdox appreciation post. Nick ‘Everdox’ Peterson (@nickeverdox) is genuinely one of the most underrated reverse engineers and Windows researchers in the industry. A lot of people know Riot Vanguard. Far fewer know the depth of Windows internals, kernel, anti-debugging, hypervisor and reverse engineering work behind one of the engineers who helped build and advance it. His old blog is an absolute gold mine. Some of this research is more than a decade old and still covers concepts people are learning and rediscovering today. Old but gold: Easy anti-trace with SYSCALL: everdox.blogspot.com/2015/05… Debugger detection with GetProcessIoCounters: everdox.blogspot.com/2013/11… BTF + LBR anti-tracing: everdox.blogspot.com/2013/10… Paged virtual memory as an anti-debug / anti-dumping primitive: everdox.blogspot.com/2013/03… Kernel/user shared page kernel-debugger detection: everdox.blogspot.com/2013/07… RTL_USER_PROCESS_PARAMETERS anti-debugging: everdox.blogspot.com/2013/02… Full archive: everdox.blogspot.com/ Then there is InfinityHook, another Everdox contribution that became a reference point for Windows kernel instrumentation: github.com/everdox/InfinityH… And his own article on revers.engineering: PatchGuard: Detection of Hypervisor Based Introspection [P1] revers.engineering/patchguar… If you are interested in reverse engineering, Windows internals, Windows kernel research, anti-debugging, anti-cheat engineering, hypervisor internals or obscure tricks buried deep inside the OS, his work is invaluable. Also bookmark the wider revers.engineering archive: revers.engineering/ That site is multi-author and contains excellent work from @daaximus , @aidankhoury across reverse engineering, kernel internals, virtualization and EPT. People spend a lot of time chasing the newest research. Sometimes the real gold has been sitting online for 10+ years. #ReverseEngineering #WindowsInternals #Infosec
