Who’s driving the fight against American data centers? All signs point to those bankrolled by foreign actors.

BitVM bridges unlock greater programmability and payments use cases for Bitcoin, but they currently rely on elliptic curve operations, which aren't secure in a post-quantum world.
At @tabconf, @AlpenLabs Research Engineer Christian Lewe (@uncomputab1e) explained why the infrastructure startup is researching post-quantum alternatives for their garbled circuits bridge:
"Groth16 is state of the art. It's great. Everybody loves this... but it's not post-quantum secure, so we cannot use it."
Full quantum resistance on Bitcoin's base layer will likely require a soft fork. But teams are prepping now to ensure BitVM bridges are ready for a full post-quantum solution when that day comes.
Full presentation to follow TABConf soon.

Data centers keep getting blamed for rising electric bills, but spending to replace aging infrastructure is the primary cause of current rate increases. Studies show large data centers shoulder a growing share of utilities’ fixed costs, easing charges on residential bills. buff.ly/E9MbeoJ

As AI introduces new threats to Bitcoin’s ecosystem, independent developers are using those same tools to investigate, test, and secure infrastructure.
Speaking to a crowded audience during the Red Team panel at @tabconf, AnchorWatch CEO Rob Hamilton highlighted the importance of community-driven security research:
"No one's coming to help us. We all just started doing this stuff because we care about Bitcoin, we wanted to start doing something, and I think it's cool that Bitcoin has these organic immune responses that come step in to help people out."

Trump Is Right About Data Centers
We need to grow faster than our debt, enrich communities that have been left behind & maintain superpower status. Data centers, sited well and sharing their benefits, help accomplish all of it.
Fill it once. Reuse it. Repeat.
Most new Arizona data centers are moving to closed loop cooling. The desert math works. 🌵
Turns out the grid works kinda like Costco.
Buy in bulk, pay less per unit. EPRI found states adding data centers saw residential rates about 6% lower than they’d otherwise be.
Myth: Data centers have raised electricity prices.
Fact: Researchers at @EPRINews recently concluded "data centers caused average retail electricity rates to fall modestly in the United States from 2015 to 2024."

Eric Price, Senior Pool Engineer & Researcher at MARA, makes the case at @tabconf that when you partially throttle the amount of power directed towards miners instead of taking a binary off-and-on approach, that essentially gives you greater visibility into the overall state of your mining fleet.
"We can operate our fleet more efficiently in a dynamic, changing environment," Price explains. "The more direct benefit is having full observability of the fleet at all times. In the presence of changes underlying the fleet — the rate of hashing, electricity flow, heat — these factors cause us to lose visibility when the system is under an adverse state."

🚨 We are hiring! Looking for both a director and a specialist in our public policy department at Riot.
We are building the AI / digital infrastructure that’s powering the American economy.
Let’s show the communities where we operate how great data centers are!

A quick reminder on where CleanSpark stands:
Sandersville is fully funded through completion with the $2.276B we closed Sept 25.
Non-dilutive, fixed-rate
financing. No equity or equity-linked funding needed to build it. We funded first. Now we’re building.
South Texas just landed $22 billion and a 6.47 GW power plant.
The data center gets fed. The grid gets the leftovers. Locals get an expected 8,400 construction jobs.
🚨 $22 BILLION investment coming to South Texas!
Project Star will create 8,400 construction jobs and 170 permanent power plant jobs.
The 6.47 GW plant will power a massive super intelligence campus, with excess electricity sold to the Texas grid.
